  • Patent number: 4337967
Abstract: A steering device according to the present invention, wherein a steering shaft provided at the upper end thereof with a steering wheel is supported in a column tube fixed on a vehicle body, is of such an arrangement that: a cylindrical chamber is defined by a partition wall fixed on the inner surface of the column tube and through which the steering shaft extends and a piston fixed on a portion of the steering shaft downwardly of the partition wall, and a high pressure fluid generated by fluid pressure generating means for operating in a collision of the vehicle is filled in the cylindrical chamber, to thereby retract the steering shaft to a position of the lower end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4286805
Abstract: A three-point type seatbelt system wherein ends of a lap outer webbing and a shoulder webbing are secured to the upper and lower portions of a vehicle door, whereby an occupant opens or closes said door so as to automatically fasten the webbings or unfasten same from the occupant. A non-locking retractor is provided between the lap outer webbing and said door and an emergency locking retractor between the lap inner webbing and the substantially central portion of the vehicle, whereby the waist of the occupant is moved by a certain length more forward in the vehicle than his head so that his head can be prevented from dashing against a dangerous obstacle.

  • Patent number: 4283076
Abstract: A seatbelt system wherein the intermediate portions of an outer webbing for restraining an occupant are turned back at slip anchors provided at the upper and lower portions of a vehicle door, whereby, in the normal running condition of the vehicle, relative movement between the webbing and the slip anchors allows the occupant to have high freedom in moving, and, in an emergency of the vehicle, when the occupant is moved by an inertial force in the direction of a collision, relative movement between the webbing and the slip anchors is prevented to restrain the occupant, thus preventing the upper body of the occupant from being thrown out in the direction of the collision.

  • Patent number: 4213635
Abstract: A two-stage air bag system which includes an air bag, a first pressure device for supplying first stage expansive pressure to the air bag when an impact is detected, a second pressure device for supplying second stage expansive pressure to the air bag and a delayed ignition signal generator responsive to the magnitude of the first stage expansive pressure for activating the second pressure device when the magnitude of the first stage expansive pressure exceeds a predetermined value.
