  • Publication number: 20220400447
Abstract: A method includes simulating, using processing circuitry, one or more sector antenna transmitting at a selected transmission power, each of the one or more sector antenna simulated as being located at a desired physical location. The method also includes determining, based on results of the simulation, a short-term interference and a long-term interference for each of the one or more sector antenna. The method also includes performing, by the processing circuitry and based on a short-term interference threshold and a long-term interference threshold for the one or more sector antenna, one or more of: increasing the selected transmission power for one of the one or more sector antenna, decreasing the selected transmission power for the one of the one or more sector antenna, or maintaining the selected transmission power for the one of the one or more sector antenna.

  • Publication number: 20170064488
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing and using customized resource types for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Through the use of customized resource types, machine type communication (MTC) devices may be provided with flexibility to receive and process request messages without prior knowledge of a resource type associated with the request messages. A receiving MTC device or infrastructure node, may receive a request to create a resource from a requesting MTC device via wireless or wired communications technologies. The resource type of the request may be a customized resource type, and the request to create the resource may include a resource reference and a content parameter. The resource reference may include, for example, a Uniform Resource Indicator or a Uniform Resource Locator that may be used by the receiving MTC device to retrieve the data associated with the resource. The receiving MTC device may generate the resource using the retrieved data.

  • Publication number: 20160019807
Abstract: A risky situation is reproduced in a direct visual field of a driver driving a vehicle with a high sense of reality. A vehicle position and attitude calculation unit calculates a present position and a traveling direction of the vehicle, a driving action detector detects an action performed by the driver driving the vehicle and the condition of the vehicle, a scenario generator generates a content, position, and timing of the risky situation occurring while the driver drives the vehicle, a virtual information generator generates visual virtual information indicating the risky situation, and a superimposing unit superimposes the generated virtual information on the image of the traveling direction of the vehicle shot by an imaging unit Then, an image display unit indicates the image on which the virtual information is superimposed in the direct visual field of the driver.

  • Patent number: 8849321
Abstract: Techniques for filtering broadcast SMS messages at a mobile station based on network configuration, user configuration, and/or user preferences. In one method, a broadcast message is initially received, and one or more filtering criteria are applied to the received broadcast message. The filtering criteria are defined by settings stored in a removable module (e.g., the R-UIM) coupled to the receiver. The received broadcast message is then processed if it is not filtered out by the one or more filtering criteria. The one or more filtering criteria may include (1) those imposed by a service provider and defined in a network configuration setting, (2) those determined by the mobile user and defined in a user configuration setting, (3) those selected by the mobile user based on user preferences, which allow for filtering of broadcast messages based on service category, language, and priority, or (4) any combination of the above.

  • Patent number: 8295831
Abstract: Method and apparatus for updating roaming lists. An error handling message is provided when the roaming list protocols within the elements of a system are not compatible. A roaming list format identifier is provided to the remote user identifying the protocol version supported by the network. The roaming list format identifier acts to either request an old version of the protocol or request the current stored format at the remote user. In one embodiment, the old version is the Preferred Roaming List, and the new version is the Extended Preferred Roaming List.

  • Patent number: 8086231
Abstract: Techniques for downloading and displaying system tags by wireless terminals based on roaming status. A tag includes texts and/or graphics. The system tags include home system tags and roaming system tags, which include group tags and specific tags. A home system tag is associated with one or multiple home systems, a group tag is associated with one or multiple roaming indicator values, and a specific tag is associated with one or multiple SID values. A terminal is provided with home system tag, group tags, and specific tags. The terminal displays the home system tag when obtaining service from the home system and a roaming system tag when obtaining service from a roaming system. The particular roaming system tag to be displayed is dependent on the roaming indicator value and the SID value for the roaming system. The system tags may be downloaded to the terminal via over-the-air signaling.

  • Patent number: 7593730
Abstract: A preferred roaming list (PRL) carries system and acquisition records for wireless wide area network (WWAN) systems and wireless local area network (WLAN) systems. New system and acquisition records may be defined for WLAN. The PRL and system and acquisition records may be defined to be backward compatible with TIA-683-C. System and acquisition information for WLAN systems may be stored in the new system and acquisition records, respectively. Information used to perform encryption and/or authentication for WLAN systems may be stored in a separate WLAN authentication profile table. The system record for each WLAN system indicates a acquisition record and a profile record for that WLAN system. A network identifier table may also carry system records and profile records for WLAN systems. The system records carry information used for WLAN system selection and acquisition. The profile records carry information used to perform encryption and/or authentication for WLAN systems.

  • Patent number: 7542451
Abstract: A network operator identifier is used to uniquely identify each network operator to support international roaming. The network operator identifier includes (1) a Mobile Country Code (MCC) that identifies the country in which a network operator belongs and (2) a Network Operator Code (NOC), which may be a Mobile Network Code (MNC), that distinguishes network operators within a given MCC. Each network operator is assigned a unique combination of MCC and NOC that distinctly identifies the network operator, and the network operator identifier can be stored in a single entry in a preferred roaming list. The base stations of each network operator broadcast the network operator identifier in signaling messages. A mobile station receives a signaling message from a base station, obtains the network operator identifier, searches its preferred roaming list for an entry with the network operator identifier, and determines whether or not the current CDMA network is accessible.

  • Publication number: 20080085705

Two new messages SMS Deliver Report Message and SMS Submit Report Message are defined for CDMA SMS. These report messages may be used to more fully convey the information in the SMS-Deliver-Report TPDU and SMS-Submit-Report TPDU defined in GSM SMS. A new Report_Req field is also provided in the Reply Option subparameter of the SMS Deliver Message and SMS Submit Message defined in CDMA SMS. This new field may be used to request a report for an SMS message to be sent by the message's recipient. Each report message may include (1) a first value indicative of whether the SMS message was received correctly or in error, (2) a second value indicative of a type of error, if any, encountered for the SMS message, and (3) user data.
