Abstract: A convertible light device useable as a flashlight and a headlight, comprising a body portion having an enlongated tube and a head portion, said head portion having a removeable light section with a lighting element and a battery bay for receiving batteries for powering the lighting element, said removeable light section having a strap adapted to be worn on a user's head, wherein the body portion defines a hollow interior for storing the strap, whereby the light device may be used as a hand held flashlight when the light section is connected to said body portion, and may be used as a handlamp when the light section is mounted to a user's head with the strap.

Abstract: A booklight comprises a housing having an elongated opening, a retractable arm having a proximal end and a distal end, and adapted to be telescopically received in said elongated opening, and slideable between a fully retracted position and a fully extended position, a light source mounted at the distal end of the retractable arm, and a clip on the housing adapted to mount the housing to a book.

Abstract: A clock has a face for telling time, a light for illuminating the face, and a switch for controlling the light. The switch cannot be used for turning the light on when the clock is stored. This conserves the clock battery by preventing accidental discharge of the battery when the clock is stored, for example in a suitcase. A magnifying lens is automatically moved to an optimal position relative to the clock face to magnify the face when the clock is deployed to display the time. The magnifying lens can also be used independently to magnify, and optionally illuminate, another object.

Abstract: A flashlight has a housing and a circuit mounted in the housing. The circuit includes a light, batteries for powering the light, and a switch for opening and closing the circuit. A switch control accessible from outside the housing can be pressed to close the switch and turn the light on momentarily or rotated to close or open the switch and turn the light on or off stably. The housing has a straight portion that houses batteries and a curved portion that houses a light. A key holder is attached to the straight portion by a flexible link and has a loop for holding keys. The key holder is constructed so that keys can be easily inserted in and removed from the loop and are held securely when inserted. The apparatus is well suited for use under poor ambient illumination to find a keyhole and insert a key properly for operation of a lock.

Abstract: A portable lock for locking a door has a lock bar for insertion and retention between a door jamb and the latch side of a door. A housing is movable along the lock bar between a retracted position enabling pivoting movement of the door about its hinge between closed and open positions and a forward position engageable with the door in the closed position. A lever arm locking mechanism is movable between first and second positions for locking the housing in the forward position to prevent movement of the door from the closed position to the open position.
