  • Patent number: 6503053
Abstract: A blade with optimized vibration behavior for turbomachinery components in an axial-type construction having a solid, thin and elongated blade body, the blade, at a distance from both a radially inner blade body end and a radially outer blade body end, having at least one plate-like rib which is disposed in an upright position on the blade body surface and is oriented in a neutral manner with regard to the flow and is also integrally connected to the blade body on one of the suction and pressure sides of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6399735
Abstract: A hydrophilic, high molecular weight nonionic polyurethane, characterized by solubility in water and by a specific viscosity of at least 0.4 (1% by weight solution at 20° C.) is provided. Examples of such polyurethanes are those characterized by the following structural units: a) —O(—CH2—CH2—O)n—, where n=8 to 500, and b) —CO—NH—X—NH—CO—, where X is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical. Also provided are methods of using the polyurethane as an adhesive, more particularly a hotmelt adhesive or a solvent-based adhesive, for example a wallpaper adhesive and labelling adhesive, of using polyurethane as a stabilizer in the emulsion polymerization of, in particular, vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride and in the copolymerization of ethylene and vinyl acetate, and of using the polyurethane as a thickener for aqueous systems, more particularly together with nonionic surfactants.

  • Patent number: 6274192
Abstract: A composition useful as a parting agent for concrete formwork is provided. The composition comprises water; a completely or predominantly unsaturated fatty alcohol containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms and with an iodine value of 40 to 200; and an alkyl or alkenyl oligoglycoside having an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 4 to 22 carbon atoms, a sugar unit containing 5 or 6 carbon atoms and a degree of oligomerization of 1 to 10. The parting agent is particularly storage-stable at low temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6180705
Abstract: The invention concerns a polyacrylamide-containing composition which is characterized in that it has a molecular weight of between 2,000 and 8,000 g/mol, determined by means of gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and as a 15% aqueous solution still has a Brookfield viscosity of between 100 and 500 mPas at 25° C. The invention further concerns the use of this polyacrylamide-containing composition for the flat bonding of water absorbent and hard surfaces and for equipping plastic surfaces with non-slip protection.

  • Patent number: 6093270
Abstract: The proposed process for bonding together two substrates with an anhydrous or low-water-content partially crystalline adhesive which is solid at room temperature is characterized in that the adhesive is first activated by internal and/or external friction. The substrates are then joined together with the adhesive between them. When allowed to stand, the structure attains its final strength after a period of between a few seconds to a few days. The friction destroys the crystalline structure and causes the adhesive to become gluey, and re-crystallization gives it its final strength and eliminates the gluey quality. The adhesive is based preferably on polyester or polyurethane and used preferably in the form of a gum stick without impermeable packaging. It is especially suitable for bonding paper, since it does not cause corrugation.
