  • Patent number: 10322039
Abstract: The present invention relates to a layers layered absorbent element for use in a disposable absorbent article comprising a top layer and a bottom layer. The top layer is a fibrous nonwoven layer having a basis weight of from 20 to 100 gsm, a thickness from 0.25 to 5 mm, is formed with fibers having an average length from 26 to 200 mm and it has a fixed height saturation at 5 cm above 40%. The bottom layer is in direct contact with the top layer and comprises superabsorbent polymer (SAP) and cellulosic fibers. A plurality of fibers protruding from the bottom layer penetrate into the top layer.

  • Publication number: 20150342789
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making a layered absorbent element, for use in disposable absorbent articles, which comprises a top layer and a bottom layer. The method includes providing a fibrous nonwoven layer having a basis weight from about 20 gsm to about 100 gsm, and a thickness of from about 0.25 mm to about 5 mm, providing an air laid or a wet laid manufacturing line comprising a forming screen, placing said nonwoven layer onto said forming screen, forming onto the nonwoven layer an air laid or wet laid layer comprising fibers and superabsorbent polymers by depositing these materials onto the nonwoven layer using an air laid or wet laid process where the nonwoven layer acts as forming screen. The resulting material is then compressed.
