  • Publication number: 20060038401
Abstract: A coupling for vacuum-insulated pipe or hose lines provided for conducting one or more cryogenic media, in which a single- or multi-core coupler plug and corresponding coupler socket each have a ball valve provided with a through hole and a locking sleeve coupled to rotate its respective ball valve when the sleeve is axially displaced. When the coupler plug and coupler socket are brought together, the locking sleeves engage and are displaced axially, such that the ball valves are moved into open positions in which a conduit of the coupler plug may be extended through the coupler plug ball valve into the coupler socket. Such a coupler allows a docking procedure to be reliably performed in all radial angular positions between the plug side and socket side, without need for skilled operators, position sensor technology or a precision refueling robot.

  • Patent number: 5645106
Abstract: A plug-type coupler consisting of male part (P) and female part (M), particularly for the connecting of conduits (2, 3) conducting fluids (4), which coupling has, within the region of the abutment place (1) between male part (P) and female part (M), a metallic ring packing (D) which is expandable in its cross section as a result of its arrangement and of a surface slot (18) by fluid (4) which is under pressure and, in this connection, rests in part on the male part (P) and in part on the female part (M), and, in order to obtain a solution which is simple in manufacture and reliable in use, the ring packing (D) which is arranged on the male part (P), with its slot (17) facing radially inward is gripped over, on the other side of the slot edge lying in the insertion direction (arrow x) by an annular shoulder (24) from which there extends a frustoconical surface (25) which tapers down towards the axis (y--y) of the plug-type coupler and opposite which there is a mating surface (27) of the female part (M) which e

  • Patent number: 5447177
Abstract: A connecting coupling (K) or separating device for conduits or for detachable conduit connection of, in particular, pressure-conducting fluid conduits (I, II), having a first coupling part (I) and a second coupling part (II), a closed fluid flow path being present in coupled state, in which connection further radial conduit sections of a coupling connection conduit and of a coupling part have mouth cross sections which can be brought into coincidence and, in the course of the coupling process, a coupling closure in each coupling part (I, II) can be opened and the mouth cross sections both of the coupling connection conduit and of the radial conduit section of the coupling part can be closed by displacement, the displacement at the same time bringing about the valve closure of the first and second coupling parts (I, II).
