  • Publication number: 20040235506
Abstract: A method of synchronising a wireless communication unit in a communication system, the method comprising at said wireless communication unit the steps of: monitoring transmissions from a communication system and processing (400) frequency and/or timing information from the communication system. The method further includes the steps of transmitting (404) frequency and/or timing information by said wireless communication unit; receiving and processing (406) said frequency and/or timing information transmitted by said wireless communication unit at a receiving portion of said wireless communication unit. The wireless communication unit then compares frequency and/or timing information transmitted from the communication system to that transmitted by said wireless communication unit; and synchronises said wireless communication unit if said comparison step does not yield a match. A wireless communication unit and a communication system are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6507730
Abstract: A communication device (100) including a receiver (110), a demodulator (120), a frequency dependent LF amplifier (130) as well as a frequency dependent decoder (150) receives a HF signal (105) onto which speech information and data information are modulated on a single carrier. The LF signal (125) provided from demodulator (120) includes two separated frequency bands for speech and data. The amplifier (130) makes audible the speech via a speaker (140) and the decoder (150) evaluates the data information, displays the same at a display (160) and controls the amplifier (150,155), respectively.

  • Patent number: 6163229
Abstract: A frequency generating circuit scales a warp range of a frequency signal. The frequency generating circuit includes a first frequency signal (10) having a first offset signal with a first frequency relationship to the first frequency signal, and a second frequency signal (14). A frequency scaling element (16) receives the first frequency signal (10) and second frequency signal and provides a third frequency signal, such that the third frequency signal includes the first offset signal having a second frequency relationship to the third signal. A switch (54), has a control input (74), a first input for receiving the first frequency signal, a second input operably coupled to the frequency scaling element (16, 42) for receiving the third frequency signal and an output (76) operably coupled to the first input or the second input dependent upon a control signal applied to the control input (74).

  • Patent number: 5978661
Abstract: A transmitter circuit including an oscillator circuit (30) having at least one input for receiving at least one modulation signal and an output (32) for providing a modulated signal. A modulation circuit (13) is operably coupled to the at least one input of the oscillator circuit (30) for providing the at least one modulation signal and a feedback path (34) between the oscillator circuit (30) and the modulation circuit (13) provides a representation of the modulated signal output from the oscillator circuit (30) to the modulation circuit (13). In response to the modulated signal, the modulation circuit (13) automatically adjusts an amplitude level of the modulation signal.
