  • Publication number: 20230206927
Abstract: A method identifies a particular speaker from among a set of speakers via a computer that includes a computer memory in which voice signatures, each associated with one of the speakers in the set, are stored. The method includes acquiring a voice signal produced by the particular speaker, constructing a new voice signature in accordance with the voice signal, comparing the new voice signature with at least one of the voice signatures stored in the computer memory, and identifying the particular speaker in accordance with the result of the comparison. The method also includes, before the constructing, generating a complete signal that includes the voice signal and at least one predetermined extension signal. Accordingly, the constructing also includes, constructing the new voice signature in accordance also with each extension signal.

  • Patent number: 8447617
Abstract: There is provided a method or a device for extending a bandwidth of a first band speech signal to generate a second band speech signal wider than the first band speech signal and including the first band speech signal. The method comprises receiving a segment of the first band speech signal having a low cut off frequency and a high cut off frequency; determining the high cut off frequency of the segment; determining whether the segment is voiced or unvoiced; if the segment is voiced, applying a first bandwidth extension function to the segment to generate a first bandwidth extension in high frequencies; if the segment is unvoiced, applying a second bandwidth extension function to the segment to generate a second bandwidth extension in the high frequencies; using the first bandwidth extension and the second bandwidth extension to extend the first band speech signal beyond the high cut off frequency.

  • Patent number: 7856098
Abstract: There is provided an echo cancellation method that comprises computing a Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) domain over a plurality of samples of a first signal to generate a plurality of first DCT samples, selecting one or more first coefficients from the plurality of first DCT samples, computing a DCT domain over a plurality of samples of a second signal to generate a plurality of second DCT samples, selecting one or more second coefficients from the plurality of second DCT samples, wherein the one or more second coefficients are same coefficients as the one or more first coefficients, applying normalized cross correlation to the one or more first coefficients and the one or more second coefficients to generate normalized cross correlation values, cancelling an echo of the second signal from the first signal by determining a bulk delay and a double talk condition based on the normalized cross correlation values.

  • Patent number: 7460671
Abstract: In one aspect, a device includes an encoder configured to receive a speech sample and generate an encoded voice packet from the speech sample, the encoded voice packet having a packet size and a plurality of bytes. The device also includes an encryption unit configured to receive a voice block and generate an encrypted voice block, the voice block having a block size, wherein the packet size is not divisible by the block size and yields a remainder. The device further includes a packet block manager configured to divide the encoded voice packet into a plurality of the voice blocks and provide the plurality of the voice blocks to the encryption unit, the packet block manager further configured to create a remainder voice block including remainder bytes of the encoded voice packet and additional bytes from the encrypted voice block and provide the remainder voice block to the encryption unit.

  • Patent number: 7155538
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing adaptive error correction for a fax and/or modem over packet network session is disclosed. A gateway device configured in accordance with the present invention comprises a controller configured to receive a signal from its local client device and a signal processor coupled to said controller. The signal processor encodes the signal based on a level of error correction selected by the controller. The controller is configured to determine a type of signal communicated by the local client device from, and then select a level of error correction used by the signal processor to encode the signal based on the determined type of signal communicated by the local client device.
