  • Patent number: 5135085
Abstract: A one-way clutch incorporates an arrangement to lead lubricating oil to the torque transmitting members without the use of a penetrating hole in the inner ring or outer ring of the clutch. Instead, a guide arrangement is provided externally of the track surfaces of the inner and outer rings for leading the lubricating oil from outside the one-way clutch to the torque transmitting members, e.g. rollers or sprags. In a clutch having a centering block for supporting the inner and outer rings, the guide arrangement may lead the lubricating oil into the centering block.

  • Patent number: 5000303
Abstract: A one-way clutch comprises an outer race where inner surface is formed with a raceway surface and an annular groove; an inner race whose outer surface is formed with a raceway surface; a plurality of wedge members interposed between the outer and inner races about the annular space defined therebetween; and a retainer comprising an outwardly extended annular projected portion engageable with the annular groove and a pushing member for causing the annular projected portion to elastically press against the annular groove. The retainer member is interposed between the outer and inner races so as to retain the plurality of wedge members, the outer race is provided with a stopper for limiting the displacement of the projected portion after the engagement thereof with the annular grove. The outer diameter of the projected portion is greater than the inner diameter of the raceway surface of the outer race.

  • Patent number: 4913271
Abstract: A one-way clutch comprises first and second rotational members radially spaced apart from each other and concentrically disposed for relative rotation and having axially extending annular track surfaces, a torque transmitting member disposed between the first and second rotational members for transmitting a torque between the track surfaces, a pair of retainers for retaining the torque transmitting member circumferentially, and a bearing member for holding the first and second rotational members concentric, the rear surface portion of the bearing member being formed with a recessed lubricating oil supply area for expediting the introduction of lubricating oil for lubricating the one-way clutch between the rear surface portion and a surface sliding relative thereto.

  • Patent number: 4854435
Abstract: A sprag outer retainer ring of a sprag-synchronized one-way clutch assembly includes a plurality of pockets formed in a circumferential direction at a predetermined pitch. Each of the pockets is defined by a generally rectangular sprag insertion hole and a pair of notches formed on opposite side edges of the sprag insertion hole and continuously therewith. Thus, the pocket is generally symmetrical in shape and thus the present outer retainer ring may be used irrespective of the lock direction.
