  • Publication number: 20070030237
Abstract: A source driving method and a source driver for a liquid crystal display device having a plurality of pixels, wherein each pixel comprises a first color sub-pixel with a first displaying wavelength, a second color sub-pixel with a second displaying wavelength less than the first displaying wavelength, and a third color sub-pixel with a third displaying wavelength less than the second displaying wavelength are provided. First, a digital data is received. Then, a digital to analog process is performed to convert the digital data into an analog data. Next, the analog data is sequentially selected and output to the first color sub-pixel, the second color sub-pixel, and then the third color sub-pixel of the selected pixel. The source driving method can improve the image color fidelity of the liquid crystal display device.

  • Publication number: 20020063836
Abstract: A display panel body (110) is formed with a thermosetting seal material disposed in an outer peripheral region of a display area between a pair of substrates (10), and a thermally conductive buffer plate (300) is disposed on the side of the display panel body (110) opposite to the side where the substrates face each other. The buffer plate (300) is aligned such that an opening (302) therein overlaps each display area, and such that a lattice member (301) thereof overlaps the region where the seal material is disposed. The panel body (110) is pressed and heated from outside through the buffer plate (300), thereby heating and curing the thermosetting seal material. Because the display area overlaps the opening of the buffer plate, pressing of this area when the seal is cured can be prevented, thereby preventing the substrate from flexing at the display area of the display panel 110 provided with no spacers.

  • Patent number: 6323924
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer formed between first and second insulating substrates. A wiring layer, an insulation film and a first orientation layer are formed on the first substrate between it and the liquid crystal layer. A electrode layer and a second orientation film are formed on the second substrate between it and the liquid crystal layer. The wiring layer includes grooves along its peripheral portion which allow the insulation film to contact the first substrate, which promotes bonding and inhibits peeling of the insulation film from the wiring layer.

  • Patent number: 6188453
Abstract: In a LCD with a built-in driver, the quality of all elements is judged. A test TFT is formed immediately below a sealing material which bonds a TFT substrate and an opposite substrate, wherein test terminals are pulled out onto the eaves section of the TFT substrate protruding from the opposite substrate. The quality of TFTs are judged by considering changes of TFT characteristics under the conditions before and after the bonding process.

  • Patent number: 6111624
Abstract: Dummy filters which are irrelevant to displaying are arranged in a matrix consecutively with respect to color filter lines or columns close to a pouring opening. Although spacers move toward the pouring opening when the substrates are pressed for attachment, the moving spacers are stopped by and gathered around the dummy filters. This can prevent a pixel area from being adversely affected due to a light-less phenomenon.

  • Patent number: 6100584
Abstract: A mother glass board used to fabricate multiple liquid crystal display panels includes a substrate on which the liquid crystal panel portions are formed. An orientation film is formed on the liquid crystal panel portions. A pattern of metallic film is formed on the substrate outside that portion of the substrate on which the liquid crystal panel portions are located. The patterns include an alignment mark and an identifier mark used in the liquid crystal panel production process. An enclosure surrounding the liquid crystal panel portions is formed on the substrate between the pattern and the liquid crystal panel portions. The enclosure prevents stripes from being formed on the orientation film during a rubbing step in the production process in which the liquid crystal panel portions are rubbed with a cloth.
