Abstract: An operation device capable of securely identifying whether an operation is performed by a driver or by a passenger on a front passenger seat are provided. In the periphery of a multidirectional input portion and switch input portions of an operation switch unit provided on a console between a driver seat and a front passenger seat of a vehicle and at diagonal positions relative to the multidirectional input portion and the switch input portions, identifying sensors which detect an approach of a hand of an operator are respectively provided, and an operation control unit which identifies the operator by outputs from the identifying sensors and is provided.

Abstract: An information display device includes a display with a display screen, a multifunction switch, an IR sensor detecting whether or not an operator's hand is in a range around the multifunction switch, and a menu display controller. The menu display controller causes, based on a sensor signal from the IR sensor, a main menu to be displayed on the display screen when an operator's hand comes in the range. When the operator's hand is taken off the multifunction switch, the menu non-display window is displayed on the display screen after a time-out time has passed.

The main input unit includes leg parts and a palm support part extended in a lateral direction from the upper ends of the leg parts, a plurality of operation switches are placed on the opposite side of either of the leg parts to the extension direction, and an operation dial is placed on a side of the palm support part, enabling the user to move the indicators displayed on the display screen and switch one of the indicators into a selection mode by operating the operation switches and the operation dial.
