  • Patent number: 5264946
Abstract: An image processing apparatus is provided with: at least one image memory for storing each picture element value of an original image; a coordinate inputting device by which a coordinate of an arbitrary point on the original image can be inputted; a device for setting a threshold according to the picture element value at the coordinate inputted by the coordinate inputting device; and a data buffer for successively storing the set threshold. The image processing apparatus is further provided with at least one look up table for converting each picture element value to either one color component data, which color indicates that the picture element value is within the region prescribed by the set threshold, or another color component data, which color indicates that the picture element value is outside the region prescribed by the set threshold, according to the set threshold, each time the threshold is set by the threshold setting device.

  • Patent number: 5235437
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a light modulator, an analog writing system for analogously writing an image of an original in the light modulator, a digital reading system for digitally reading the written image out of the light modulator, a processing section for processing the read image data, a digital writing system for digitally writing the processed image in the light modulator, and an analog reading system for analogously reading the image written on the light modulator. The light modulator includes a photoconductive material, a liquid crystal layer laminated on the photoconductive material, and a pair of electrodes sandwiching the photoconductive material and the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer can provide a storage function so as to enable the reading and writing of the image from the same direction.

  • Patent number: 5195180
Abstract: In a method for displaying an image, the image is divided into a first image area which includes characters, the border of which is overlapping a part of a color background, and a second image area which includes the other part of the background. The method includes the steps of setting data of pixels of the image using n bits in a multi-purpose area of an image memory, in a manner that, in setting data of pixels in the first image area, some of the n bits are used for color information of the background present at the border of the characters and the others are used for data of the characters. Further, in setting data for pixels in the second image area, all of the n bits are used for color information of the background, except that of the part underlying the border of the characters.

  • Patent number: 4992781
Abstract: An image synthesizer of an image editing apparatus not only stores image data of two or more source images and includes a display device for displaying an image according to received image data, but also is provided with an address generator which, controlled by a data processor, transmits address signals sequentially to have a synthesized image of these source images displayed such that the individual source images appear superposed and transparent to each other. Each pixel of the display device displays only one of the source images and area densities of pixels displaying each of the source images very over the two-dimensional screen of the display device. When one of the source images is superposed on top of another, a pattern is stored in a pattern memory such that pixels displaying one of the images are scattered into the area of the other image according to the pattern such that the boundary between source images can be made controllably less conspicuous.

  • Patent number: 4964066
Abstract: A device for editing and displaying an image uses a medium such as a transparent film or a magnetic card on which are recorded both display data and commands for specifying how the display data should be processed. Such data are received by the device through a camera, a magnetic record reader and/or the like and stored in a memory device. Digital image processing is performed on such stored data according to the commands and an image according to the processed data is displayed.

  • Patent number: 4953015
Abstract: In color printing, for example, a color image is generally picked up by a color camera, image scanner and is processed by an image processor and a processing result is obtained as a full color image by a color printer. Some color printers use three different color inks of yellow, magenta and cyan and other printers use black in addition to those inks. Black ink is outputted to print a black area of the colored image and allotment of yellow, magenta or cyan inks is formed on at least part of the black area. Allotment and output of each of the color inks onto the black ink is determined by a color matrix table which defines a color ink output rule. The color matrix table also contains matrix elements for not outputting any of the color of inks.

  • Patent number: 4949279
Abstract: A device and a process systematically combine various independent image processings into composite processings. The device uses an image processing device that independently sets the scanning method of scanning points P, a decision reference as to whether or not processing is performed on the scanning point P (which is a scanning point P'), a processing point Qi for performing the processing, and the processing contents to be performed with respect to the processing point Qi.

  • Patent number: 4878178
Abstract: An image processing device includes a multipurpose memory which stores intensity information as well as label information and a look-up memory. The output from the multipurpose memory is connected to an address of the look-up table memory and is converted by the look-up table memory. The image processing device operates to select an area in an image without erasing the data of an image to be processed and to change the color at a very high speed.
