Patent number: 4863199Abstract: The inner surface of the open end of a socket for a pipe is formed with a taper portion and a lock ring is received on the inner periphery of the taper portion. The outer peripheral portion of the socket corresponding to the taper portion is tapered in the same direction so that the wall thickness of the socket at the taper portion has a suitable value. When a pull-out force acts on a spigot inserted in the socket, the wedge action of the taper portion presses the lock ring against the spigot, whereby the separation is prevented. If an excessive pull-out force acts thereon, the portion of the socket which has the suitable thickness is deformed for radial expansion so as to allow the pull-out of the lock ring. Thereby, the pipe joint and the pipe body are prevented from being broken by the excessive force.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1987Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Assignee: Kubota, Ltd.Inventors: Sadamune Hojo, Toshiyuki Iwamoto, Noriyuki Arakawa, Terutaka Narita

Patent number: 4756973Abstract: A photochromic lens is composed of a lens member made of a lens resin; and a photochromic layer applied on at least one side of the lens member and formed of a resin of a three-dimensional network structure. The layer-forming resin contains a spirooxazine compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 means a hydrogen or halogen atom or a cyano, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or C.sub.1-6 alkoxy group, and R.sub.2 denotes a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, --CH.sub.2).sub.n COOH, --CH.sub.2).sub.n CN, substituted arylalkyl group or --CH.sub.2).sub.n COOR in which R is a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group and n stands for an integer of 1-4. The layer-forming resin may additionally contain a phenol resin and/or a phenolic compound. A hard coat layer may optionally be applied on the surface of the photochromic layer.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1986Date of Patent: July 12, 1988Assignee: Kureha Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Teruo Sakagami, Katsuichi Machida, Yasufumi Fujii, Noriyuki Arakawa, Naohiro Murayama
