  • Publication number: 20060289320
Abstract: The present invention encompasses both apparatuses and methods for providing capabilities of facilitating utilitarian functions that are flexible in both their configuration and circumstances of utilization. In various embodiments, this multi-functional utility system is capable of being manually transportable, compactable, customizable, and is capable of operation in a variety of settings. In certain representative embodiments, the present invention includes folding legs, a base utility portion, a supplementary utility portion that is moveable relative to the base utility portion, and an assembly for arresting the motion of the supplementary utility portion, relative to the base utility portion. The supplementary utility portion is capable of assuming at least one closed disposition and at least one operative disposition, wherein the operative disposition is oriented at an angle between 0 and 180 degrees relative to the orientation of the supplementary utility portion when in the closed disposition.

  • Publication number: 20050262642
Abstract: A mattress with a light-transmissive cover directed at preventing the hiding of contraband in institutional facilities. The mattress has a solid or partially solid core and a light-transmissive cover that envelops the core. A light-transmissive reinforcement section may be provided in the cover. When provided as a mattress for an inmate in a confinement area, the mattress permits visual inspection for contraband hidden in the mattress by looking through the light-transmissive cover of the mattress.

  • Patent number: 6807694
Abstract: A bedding arrangement having a first pillow section and a second mattress section. The first pillow section has an interior core section contained within a first cover. The second mattress section includes an interior core section contained within a second cover. A connection extends between and attaches the first pillow section and second mattress section. A method of making the bedding arrangement comprises attaching together the first cover and the second cover along a common edge. The pillow core and the mattress core are then placed within the interior and the covers are closed to contain the cores.

  • Publication number: 20040148676
Abstract: A security suit to contain the wearer and prevent removal. The suit comprises a body that extends over the torso of the wearer and includes an opening formed by a first edge and a second edge. A plurality of receivers are positioned on the edges adjacent to the opening. A strap is sized to fit through the receivers and secure the strap. The suit is positionable between open and closed orientations. In the open orientation, the opening is enlarged with the edges separated to allow the wearer to enter and exit the suit. In the closed orientation, the opening is closed with the edges adjacently positioned. In the closed orientation, the receivers align such that the strap can extend through. The strap is secured in the closed orientation by lock, knot, or other manner.

  • Publication number: 20030207081
Abstract: A method for coating an orifice plate and an orifice plate having a non-wetting coating thereon is provided. To form the plate, material having non-wetting characteristics can be provided as a surface of a transfer block. The non-wetting material is preferably Teflon (PTFE). The surface of the transfer block comprising non-wetting material can be pressed against the orifice plate, preferably under heating conditions. In one embodiment of the invention, the non-wetting surface is pressed against a spacer plate which is pressed against the orifice plate, preferably under heating conditions. The non-wetting material is vaporized and deposits on the surface of the orifice plate to coat the orifice plate with non-wetting material, but not the inside of the orifice.

  • Patent number: 6610165

To form the plate, material having non-wetting characteristics can be provided as a surface of a transfer block. The non-wetting material is preferably Teflon (PTFE) and the transfer block is preferably a relatively soft material, which preferably has good heat transfer properties, such as aluminum. The surface of the transfer block comprising the non-wetting material can be pressed against the orifice plate, preferably under heating conditions. In one embodiment of the invention, the non-wetting surface is pressed against a secondary transfer block to coat the secondary transfer block with the non-wetting material and the coated surface of this second block is pressed against the orifice plate, preferably under heating conditions.
