  • Patent number: 7657977
Abstract: A belt clamp with a pivotal article carrier attached thereto includes a base and a cover hinged together at the top. The cover includes a passageway at the lower end to accept a barb-like fastener integral with lower end of base to lock clamp closed. A tongue projects inwardly from the cover to contact and inhibit movement of a duty belt inside the clamp. The base includes a pair of intersecting arcuate slots and a reversible insert having one arcuate slot to make the clamp usable by either right- or left-handed users. A movable belt width adjustment bar is mounted inside the clamp to accommodate belts of various widths. Bosses around the lower opening of the cover inhibit twisting of locked clamp to prevent inadvertent opening. A locking plate is provided to inhibit rotation of fasteners used in pivotal mounting of an article carrier to the belt clamp.

  • Patent number: 7497043
Abstract: A magazine doubler includes a resilient body with two cavities each having upstanding ribs to carry magazines therein at different heights. A bracket and spaced screws are mounted medially between the front and back of the body to squeeze the body to generally conform it to carried magazines therein. A blocking element is used to replace the top round in one magazine to prevent the upper round from being dislodged during use of the doubler. Such element is tethered and biased by a rubber band looping around one of the screw shanks.

  • Patent number: 7240449
Abstract: A firearm safety system includes a magazine block having a pair of opposed parallel shoulders slidably inserting beneath a pair of respective lips at an upper portion of a magazine and positionable in a loading chamber of a firearm to trap the charging handle to make it inoperable. Once the magazine block is positioned within the loading chamber, the firearm cannot operate because the magazine block inhibits ammo rounds from entering the loading chamber and prevents a spring-loaded bolt and firing pin from moving forward for propelling ammo rounds. The firearm safety system may operate in a stealthy mode by attaching the magazine block to a cover plate including a pair of resilient elements for locking to a female receptor notch of the magazine block thereby rendering the magazine block, loading chamber, ejection port and a portion of at least one loaded spare magazine hidden.

  • Patent number: 6769581
Abstract: A holster includes a quick release withdrawal restraint and is constructed of an inner and outer sidewall joined together along a front and back to define an inner cavity with an open top shaped to fit a handgun. The quick restraint includes a mechanical blocking element located in the inner cavity to engage a portion of the handgun adjacent the ejection port to inhibit withdrawal upwardly prior to rearward movement of the handgun. A second mechanical blocking element is also provided adjacent the rear of the trigger guard that is biased into a first position to prevent rearward movement of the gun and a second position that allows for rearward movement of a gun when the second blocking element is moved by pressure on a thumb or finger ledge. A third mechanical blocking element is provided to prevent motion of a handgun when holstered in a manner to cause movement of the second blocking element from the first position.

  • Patent number: 6588640
Abstract: This invention relates to a back piece or a support plate for positioning a handgun holster in a substantially fixed position on a waist belt, the back piece being a molded, stiff, inflexible single thickness of leather-like material adapted to hold a holstered pistol close to the leg of the wearer with the handgun grip canted slightly outwardly for easy withdrawal and having two elongate belt slots. This invention is especially suitable for waist belts and carriers attachable to a waist belt by means of fabric hook-and-loop fasteners. A belt adapter plate is included to provide for use of the support plate with belts of smaller width and/or thickness. The support plate is constructed in a manner to deflect the lower portion of a belt outwardly so that when the belt is tensioned the lower portion of the support plate is pulled inwardly toward the leg of a wearer. The slots are formed in a manner to firmly bind against a belt when it is tensioned to fix the support plate in a desired position.

  • Patent number: 6371341
Abstract: A movable blocking member is pivotally mounted to the holster and movable between a first position where ratable motion of the hood is blocked and a second position where rotatable motion of the hood is allowed. The hood is rotated to allow a handgun to be removed from a holster. The hood must be depressed downwardly prior to rotation. In one aspect of the block the blocking member prevents rotation of the hood after downward motion of the strap. Alternate embodiments of the block provide a blocking member positionable to prevent the initial downward motion of the hood. Detents and detent recesses are provided to secure the blocking member in a desired position.

  • Patent number: 6327805
Abstract: A securing device for holding two ammunition magazines in a manner to allow one and then the other magazine to be loaded into a firearm includes two brackets for engaging the upper and lower surface of both magazines and holding them side-by-side. The brackets are connected together with a screw threadably engaged into the lower bracket and threadably engaged with an overcenter toggle lever on top of the other bracket. The toggle lever is operable to lock the brackets in place. A flexible strap is mounted to the upper bracket and connectable to the lower bracket in a manner to partially encircle the magazine located on each side of the brackets. The flexible strap is used for continuous length adjustment to accommodate magazines having a wide variety of sizes and shapes. The brackets are sized to space the magazines to allow one to be loaded in a firearm without interference from the other magazine.

  • Patent number: 6010045
Abstract: An adjustable carrier for a tool, weapon, or other holsterable object to be attached to any support, including a belt or body harness. The adjustment capability permits the carrier to be clamped in a rigid tilted position as chosen by the wearer of the harness. The adjustment is accomplished by having a pair of vertical spaced and substantially parallel slots and a lower horizontal slot with vertical saw teeth along all shoulders forming the latter slot. Tightenable connectors fit through the vertical slots and another tightenable connector carrying a saw tooth washer positively engages complemental portions of the saw teeth along the shoulders. One or more other spaced openings or slots have a tightenable bolt disposed to attach to threaded connectors. The openings provide for both vertical and/or horizontal adjustments, including tilt or cant, for adjusting the position of the carrier with respect to the holsterable object to suit the user.

  • Patent number: 5944239
Abstract: An holster includes a biasing member that forces a handgun forwardly in a holster such that the handgun engages one or more molded ledges in the inner cavity of the holster and allows withdrawal only by way of a specific series of steps. The biasing member includes an engaging member that carries an axle-mounted roller and forces the roller against the handgun at a predetermined position. A spring may be mounted between the engaging member and a support body to which the engaging member is pivotably mounted. Positive locking devices are provided for the engaging member in some of the embodiments with some being releasable by a finger of a wearer or by movement of the handgun in a predetermined direction.
