  • Patent number: 5248920
Abstract: In a color CRT with an in-line gun and a pin cushion correcting yoke, there is disclosed an eyebrow effect electronoptical distortion correction device comprising two pair of coils, each pair having a coil on each outer electron beam side of the neck in the plane of the beams. The coil pairs are spaced apart along the Z-axis between the gun and the yoke and are driven by a sawtooth current having a bow-tie envelope synchronous with the raster scan to correct the dynamic, antisymmetrical eyebrow effect apparent as a purity defect on the raster.

  • Patent number: 4547698
Abstract: An in-line electron gun in a color TV cathode ray tube generates three coplanar electron beams. The raster pattern projected by the center beam is diminished in vertical height so as to be non-coextensive with the two off-axis beams. The gun is characterized by having two pairs of inwardly converging but non-intersecting magnetic field enhancer means, one of each pair being located at a point of beam egress and embracing in symmetrical relationship one of the off-axis beams. Each member of each of the pairs comprises an L-shaped bracket with the brackets defining an opening therebetween, with one leg of each bracket providing for attachment to the electrode. The brackets, the predetermined angle and distance, and their separation and length are such that the enhancer means is effective to divert the flux of the vertical deflection field through the openings between the enhancer means.

  • Patent number: 4457733
Abstract: A television cathode ray picture tube has an in-line electron gun for generating three coplanar electron beams. The raster pattern projected by the center beam is diminished in vertical height so as to be non-coextensive with the superimposed raster patterns projected by the off-axis beams. The method according to the invention for providing raster coextensiveness comprises embracing each off-axis beam at the point of beam egress from the gun with a pair of inwardly converging but non-intersecting magnetic field enhancer means in symmetrical relationship and defining an opening therebetween. Each member of the enhancer means is oriented at a predetermined convergence angle with respect to the plane of the three beam paths, and located at a predetermined distance from the tube axis.

  • Patent number: 4137480
Abstract: This disclosure depicts a novel electron gun having at least one cathode having an electron emissive coating, a forward element and a plurality of electrodes interspaced between the cathode and the forward element. The electrodes and forward element each have at least one aperture wherein the apertures in the electrodes and forward element are coaxial and define at least one beam passageway for passing through the gun a stream of electrons emitted by the cathode during operation. The beam passageway unavoidably forms a conduit for high velocity gas when the gun is located in a narrow neck of a television picture tube and the tube is evacuated of gas through a tubulator located at the rear end of the neck. The improvements in the electron gun comprise a gas influencing element for reducing and perturbing the high velocity gas flow in the conduit at least in the region of the cathode as the tube is evacuated to suppress erosion of the cathode coating by preventing a violent flow of gas over the cathode.

  • Patent number: 4096408
Abstract: This disclosure depicts and describes a unitized, in-line electron gun for television cathode ray tubes having a bead-type structure for mechanically supporting, spacing, aligning and electrically isolating gun components. This disclosure is particularly directed to an improved system of electrode support that absorbs stress induced during the mounting process to leave the gun structure substantially free of residual stress, thus reducing the incidence of bead fracture and electrode displacement.

  • Patent number: 4032811
Abstract: This disclosure depicts and describes a unitized, in-line electron gun for television cathode ray tubes having a bead-type structure for mechanically supporting, spacing, and aligning gun components. This disclosure is particularly directed to an improved structure which promotes a greater stability of electrode support with a reduced tendency toward bead fracture.
