    Abstract: A seal for reusably sealing an opening formed by a slit in a sheet material portion of an envelope providing an airtight enclosure, which seal comprises an edge formation having first and second flexible members secured along respective first and second edge portions of the slit, a rigid member extending along the length of the slit and having a channel along its length for receiving and holding therein the first and second flexible members in contact with one another so as to close the opening, inflatable means operable upon inflation thereof to urge the first and second flexible members into sealing engagement with one another and to secure the first and second members within the channel of the rigid member, and retaining means for resisting withdrawal of the first and second flexible members from the channel whilst the inflatable means is deflated. The retaining means simplifies the alignment of the flexible members prior to inflation.

    Abstract: A handle assembly for a pressurized dispensing container consists of a handle 12 and a collar 11. The collar is fitted with legs 28, provided with bulbous portions 29 which clip resiliently into a groove 20 in the valve cup. The handle is provided with lugs 41 which engage with the collar. The handle is inserted into the collar and twisted to engage the lugs 41 with the collar to retain the handle. The lugs also press against legs 28 to prevent the collar becoming detached from the cam 13. A rachet surface 30 is provided around the top of the collar which is engaged by a tab on the handle as the handle is twisted to lock it into the collar. The rachet surface thus prevents the handle from being disengaged by being twisted in a direction opposite to that required for engaging the lugs.

    Abstract: A valve for a pressurized dispensing container comprises a valve housing (11) defining a valve chamber (15) and having at its lower end an inlet for pressurized material. An annular flexible seal (12) closes the upper end of the chamber, there is a cup-shaped valve member (13) within the chamber, and a hollow actuator stem (16) extends in sliding, sealed relation through the seal (12) and engages the valve member (13) at its lower end. A spring (14) urges the valve member (13) upwardly into sealing engagement with the seal (12), the actuator stem (16) being manually moveable downwardly against the action of the spring (14) to unseal the valve member (13) and open the valve. The wall of the actuator stem (16) includes at least one radial, aperture (24) adjacent to but spaced from the lower end of the actuator stem and defining a lip portion (25) adjacent the lower end of the actuator.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for high pressure sizing, including sizing squeeze apparatus which effectively utilizes high pressure squeeze loading to remove excess sizing from the warp yarns, and thus to reduce the water evaporation requirement of the yarn. The high pressure sizing squeeze apparatus includes positive drive of the rubber-surface roll as well as the steel roll to prevent slippage which could strain the warp, and maintains a substantially invariant squeeze loading irrespective of variable tension in the roll drive. The surface speed of the rubber-covered squeeze roll may be slightly less than the surface speed of the steel roll, to reduce the torque required to drive the rubber-covered roll at relatively high squeeze pressures where substantial slippage is encountered. A torque limiter controls maximum axial drive torque supplied to the rubber-surface roll, in response to the magnitude of squeeze loading.
