  • Patent number: 8922087
Abstract: An electrically driven motor, an electrical generator, a rotating electrical machine and method of operating, that includes a rotating rotor having an even number of alternating polarity permanent magnet poles and a stator with an odd number of evenly spaced alternating magnetic polarity electromagnetic poles divided into an odd number of equal stator phase groups with a magnetically unbalanced orphan, pole from each stator phase group removed without re-spacing the remaining stator poles to produce a gap between stator phase groups that is greater than the spacing between adjacent poles in each stator phase group. The rotor can be a rotating external rotor or a stationary internal rotor and the stator can be a stationary interior stator or a rotating exterior stator.

  • Patent number: 8253299
Abstract: A motor including an outside rotor having a rotor disc with plural magnets alternating polarities flush mounted in the disc, an inside stator assembly with a transversely wound stator windings encased by a ring of wound magnetic flux channel pole pieces to assemble within a hub of a motor, and a controller coupled with feedback electronics for monitoring a timing, speed and direction and coupling a signal to a processing unit for adjusting the drive electronics driving the phase windings. A u-shaped channel above the bobbin filed transverse winding coil to receive the rotor disc and focus the captured magnetic flux in the pole pieces toward the magnets.

  • Patent number: 7868510
Abstract: A motor including an outside rotor having a rotor disc with plural magnets alternating polarities flush mounted in the disc, an inside stator assembly with a ring of pole pieces forming a channel to house a transversely wound stator windings, and a controller coupled with feedback electronics for monitoring a timing, speed and direction and coupling a signal to a processing unit for adjusting the drive electronics driving the phase windings. A u-shaped gap above the channel to receive the rotor disc and focus the captured magnetic flux in the pole pieces toward the magnets. In an embodiment the molded magnetic flux channel pole pieces of the inside stator are sets of molded magnetic flux channel pole pieces, each set forming a channel and corresponding to one phase of the motor; and a section of each one of the transverse windings passing through one channel, the remaining section folding back outside the set in close proximity to the outer base of the set of molded magnetic flux channel pole pieces.

  • Patent number: 7772741
Abstract: A wind turbine generator produces alternating current. The generator contains an inner cylindrical stator and an outer cylindrical rotating housing. The stator has a transverse row of molded magnetic flux members mounted on its exterior wall and a metal conductor running through a continuous transverse channel defined by the flux members. The rotating housing has a transverse row of permanent magnets mounted on the interior wall of the outer cylinder. Rotation of the housing causes the permanent magnets to induce magnetic fields in the flux members that induce an alternating current in the metal conductor.

  • Patent number: 5740617
Abstract: A rotary drum dryer dries a slurry into discrete solid particles. The dryer contains three long horizontal cylinders: an outer cylinder, a perforated cylinder inside the outer cylinder, and an inner cylinder inside the perforated cylinder. As the cylinders rotate, slurry in the outer cylinder is compressed through the perforated cylinder by the inner cylinder and deposited onto the inner wall surface of the outer cylinder in discrete masses. The masses are dried as the cylinder rotates and then are removed by a scraper and conveyed outside the dryer for further treatment and/or packaging.
