  • Patent number: 11831113
Abstract: A modular electrical system with electrical and/or data outlets provides an unobtrusive power and/or data source that can be routed along a floor, a table or other work surface in a work area. The modular system includes a plurality of electrical wiring modules, a plurality of junction modules each having multiple outputs, and a plurality of electrical power or data units connected to the junction modules and to surfaces in the work area. Optionally, a modular floor runner system is assembled together from rigid floor runner modules interposed with junction modules, with one or more flexible branch extensions selectively coupled to any desired junction module. The floor runner modules and junction modules include housings that protect electrical wiring held internally, while being minimally intrusive for use in walking areas. Optionally, a table mounted modular electrical system is connectable to a floor runner system, and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 11641083
Abstract: An electrical system for use in a raceway includes a power cable and a junction block. The junction block includes junction block halves configured to form opposing halves of the junction block, a plurality of bus bars arranged within a bus bar cavity, and a hinged connector arranged on a face of a first of the junction block halves. The junction block halves are coupled to define a bus bar cavity within the junction block. Each of the bus bars are electrically coupled to a conductor of the power cable. The hinged connector is arranged opposite a second junction block half such that a portion of the hinged connector is rotatable about an axis that is parallel to a face of the first junction block half. The power cable is coupled to the junction block via the hinged connector.

  • Publication number: 20230124858
Abstract: An electrical outlet has a housing including a perimeter housing portion sandwiched between front and rear housing portions. The perimeter housing portion define an interior and has a front edge and a rear edge. The front housing portion has a rear surface that engages the front edge of the perimeter housing portion, and the front housing portion includes one or more electrical receptacle openings to the interior, with a plurality of rearwardly-extending latch tabs for securing the electrical outlet to a mounting surface. The rear housing portion has a front surface that engages the rear edge of the perimeter housing portion. The rear and perimeter housing portions cooperate to define a strain relief for an electrical cord that supplies power to electrical contacts inside the housing.

  • Patent number: 11594850
Abstract: An electrical power unit or electronic data unit includes an outer housing, a circuit board positioned inside the outer housing, a frame inserted inside the outer housing, and a face plate fitted over the outer housing. The circuit board supports, for example, a high voltage AC electrical receptacle, a low voltage DC electrical receptacle, and a switch, each of which is electrically connected to the circuit board. The frame defines a plurality of outlet openings for receiving respective one of the AC electrical receptacle, the DC electrical receptacle, and the switch. The face plate defines outer receptacle openings that align with respective outlet openings of the frame to provide access to the respective AC electrical receptacle, DC electrical receptacle, and switch.

  • Publication number: 20220368091
Abstract: An electrical plug provides protection against electrical surges with a replaceable surge protector cartridge that is readily removable and replaceable along an exterior of the plug. Surge protector circuitry in the cartridge can absorb an electrical surge received at the plug from an electrical mains source, and the electrical plug can maintain electrical continuity from plug prongs to an electrical cord both before and after the surge protector has absorbed an electrical surge.

Abstract: An electrical receptacle includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a power control unit coupled to the PCB, AC electrical conductors, and an electrical receptacle coupled to the PCB. The electrical contacts are in electrical communication with respective ones of the electrical conductors. A first portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to a power source and a second portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to respective ones of the electrical contacts. The power control unit includes a controller and a switch, the switch operable to selectively establish continuity between the first and second portions of at least one of the electrical conductors. The controller is configured to selectively place the switch into either a closed position or an open position in response to a signal received from an environmental or occupancy sensor.

  • Publication number: 20220200292
Abstract: An electrical outlet for a recreational vehicle includes a high voltage AC electrical power receptacle and a low voltage DC electrical power receptacle that is powered independently of the high voltage AC receptacle so that the DC receptacle can remain energized when the AC receptacle is disconnected from an AC power supply. The DC and AC receptacles, located at the same electrical outlet, are wired separately to different power sources. This allows the recreational vehicle's electrical storage batteries to continue energizing the DC receptacle, at the same outlet as the AC receptacle, even when it is not possible or desirable to energize the AC receptacle. Therefore, limited functionality can be maintained at the outlet even when no AC mains, onboard generator, or AC-to-DC inverter is connected or in operation.
