The emulsomes may further comprise surface modifications of either [N-(carbonyl-methoxypropylethyleneglycol-2000)-1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, sodium salt] (MPEG-DSPE) for peglyation or stearylamine for cationization. Methods of improving brain delivery of lipophilic bioactive agents by intranasally administering such emulsome compositions are also provided.
