  • Publication number: 20230320892
Abstract: The present invention provides an ostomy draining conduit comprising a proximal self-expanding internal sealing edge designed to be inserted into a stoma and seal the passage between the conduit's exterior wall and the stoma's interior wall; and a distal external draining edge, as well ostomy draining devices comprising same.

  • Publication number: 20050004000
Abstract: Orally nonabsorbed or poorly absorbed drugs may be converted to orally absorbed prodrug derivatives by derivatization of free functional groups selected from amino, hydroxyl, mercapto, phosphate and/or carboxyl with groups sensitive to mild basic conditions such as 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (Fmoc), 2-sulfo-9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (Fms), and fluorenylmethyl (Fm).

  • Publication number: 20040053847
Abstract: The invention provides diastereomeric peptides with a net positive charge greater than +1, and cyclic analogues thereof, having at least 15 amino acid residues, wherein said residues are selected from: (i) leucine and lysine;, (ii) leucine, lysine and arginine; (iii) glycine, serine, spargine, threonine, or glutamine optionally present at the N-terminus; (iv) and/or lysine, arginine, glycine, or serine optionally present at the C-terminus. The diastereomeric peptides are suitable for treatment of cancer and for treatment, particularly topical treatment, of infections caused by pathogenic organisms such as bacteria and fungi. In addition, they may be used for controlling, mycoplasma infection in cell cultures and for food preservation as food supplements and as alternative to antibiotics for animal nutrition.

  • Patent number: 5710028
Abstract: A method of simultaneous determination of the identity of nucleotide bases at specific positions in nucleic acids of interest, which includes (a) treating a sample containing the nucleic acids of interest to obtain unpaired nucleotide bases spanning the specific positions, if the nucleic acids are not already single stranded; (b) contacting the unpaired nucleotide bases with combinations of various marked oligonucleotide primers each for hybridizing with a stretch of nucleotide bases present in each nucleic acid of interest immediately adjacent the nucleotide base to be identified, so as to form a duplex between the primer and the nucleic acid of interest such that the nucleotide base to be identified is the first unpaired base in the template immediately 5' of the nucleotide base annealed with the 3'-end of the primer in the duplex; (c) contacting the duplex with the reagent which includes an aqueous carrier, and at least one primer extension unit, the primer extension unit including an extension moiety a se

  • Patent number: 5650277
Abstract: A method aimed at the quantification of di- and trinucleotide repeat which includes (a) treating a sample containing the nucleic acids of interest to obtain unpaired nucleotide bases spanning the position of the repeats and flanking regions, if the nucleic acids are not already single stranded; (b) contacting the unpaired nucleotide bases with an oligonucleotide primer capable of hybridizing with a stretch of nucleotide bases present in the nucleic acid of interest preferably 3' of the trinucleotide repeats to be quantified, so as to form a duplex between the primer and the nucleic acid of interest; (c) providing means to ensure that the examined nucleic acid and the oligonucleotide primer are confined to a reaction chamber at all further steps; (d) contacting the duplex with a primer extension unit which is capable of base pairing with the first nucleotide base in the core sequence of the repeats, and a template dependent extension enzyme; (e) eliminating non-incorporated primer extension units; (f) contacti
