    Abstract: According to the invention the damping of vibration on the part of a structural material such as metal or concrete is effected by applying a limited amount of vibration-damping viscoelastic material between the two such structural parts, the vibration-damping material being being applied in lines, points or the like spaced from each other at distances less than one bending wavelength for the highest frequency range to be damped.
