  • Publication number: 20100032080
Abstract: A method of forming a vehicle trim component 10 having a first layer 10A and a second layer 12 includes overlapping an edge 44 of a first member 14 of the first layer 10A with an edge 50 of a second member 16 of the first layer 10A within a mold having first and second mold portions 22 and 26 to define a seam 18 location. One of the first and second mold portions 22 and 26 is moved into contact with the other of the mold portions to define a second layer cavity 54 between the mold portion and the first layer 10A. A second layer 12 is formed within the cavity 54 and adjacent the first layer 10A, wherein the material defining the second layer 12 urges the edges 44 and 50 of the first and second members 14 and 16 into engagement with one another to define a seam 18 in the first layer 10A such that no portion of the material defining the second layer 12 extends between the edges 44 and 50 of the first and second members 14 and 16.

  • Patent number: 7093873
Abstract: Apparatus for storing items within a vehicle compartment that can be operated single-handedly, are provided. A cover is pivotally attached to a vehicle compartment floor (or to a base secured to a vehicle compartment floor) and is movable between a closed position in overlying, face-to-face relation with the floor and an open position wherein the cover is disposed substantially transverse to the floor. A wall is pivotally attached to the cover front side and is movable between a stored position in face-to-face relation with the cover front side and an operative position disposed substantially transverse to the base and to the cover. A spring is configured to urge the wall to a predetermined position when the cover is moved from a closed position to an open position. An elastic strap is secured to the cover and is configured to secure articles placed between the elastic strap and the cover.

  • Patent number: 6749241
Abstract: Apparatus are provided for storing items within vehicle cargo compartments. A panel is pivotally secured within a cargo compartment and is movable between a closed position in adjacent, face-to-face relationship with the wall and one or more open positions substantially transverse to the wall, and a retractable retaining belt operably associated with the panel. The retaining belt is movable between retracted and extended positions. The retaining belt has a free end and a post attached to the free end that is configured to be gripped by a user so as to move the retaining belt to an extended position. A floor within the vehicle includes one or more apertures formed therein, and the post includes an end portion that is configured to be removably inserted into the one or more apertures so as to maintain the retaining belt in one or more respective extended positions.

  • Patent number: 6739742
Abstract: Storage apparatus are provided that are configured to be attached to the interior roof of a vehicle. A panel is configured to be secured to a vehicle interior roof and includes an aperture formed therein that is configured to allow an interior light attached to the interior roof of a vehicle to extend therethrough. The cover is configured to be movable between a closed position in face-to-face adjacent relationship with the panel and an open position for providing access to the one or more storage compartments. The cover includes an aperture formed therein. When the cover is in a closed position, the vehicle interior roof light can illuminate the vehicle interior through the aperture and lens in the cover. When the cover is moved to an open position, the light can also illuminate the one or more storage compartments in the cover.
