  • Publication number: 20230284651
Abstract: The group of inventions relates to the food industry, namely, to a method and device for processing brewer's spent grains. The invention makes it possible to obtain a gluten-free protein drink with a protein content of at least 10.0 wt. % dry weight. The principle of the invention is based on the technology of preparing brewer's spent grains for the extraction of nutrients and their extraction by mechanical processing on the proposed industrial line. The essence of the method lies in the fact that brewer's spent grains are loosened on a vibrating screen, crushed in a colloid mill, with the addition of water in a ratio of 0.

  • Patent number: 11712048
Abstract: The present technology generally relates to food-processing industry, namely to a method of processing brewer's grains. The invention enables to increase the level of extracted food fractions of brewer's grains up to 90-95% and to increase protein content in barley protein concentrate up to 50-65% wt (dry solid). The method implies that brewer's grains are subject to loosening by means of a vibrating screen, grinding in a colloid mill with addition of water or centrate in the ratio from 0.5:1 to 1:1 to brewer's grains in order to produce a pasty homogeneous mass from brewer's grains; and then this mass is subject to processing by means of a screw extractor for its further grinding and division into 2 factions: suspension with the humidity level of 90-95%, and ground husk of brewer's grains with the humidity level of 60-75% suitable for its further industrial use.

  • Patent number: 11576401
Abstract: The group of inventions relates to the food industry, and more particularly to a method and device for transforming brewer's spent grain (BSG). The invention makes it possible to increase the level of recovery of edible fractions from BSG to 90-95%, and to increase the amount of protein in an edible suspension to not less than 50 wt % dry solids. The underlying principle of the invention is a technique for preparing BSG for nutrient extraction and extracting said nutrients by mechanical processing on a proposed industrial processing line. The essence of the claimed method lies in loosening BSG on a vibratory sieve, grinding the BSG in a colloid mill with the addition of water or centrate in a ratio of from 0.

  • Patent number: 11383244
Abstract: A brewer's spent grain (BSG) grinder includes a charging tank connected to a grinding unit, the charging tank being equipped with a device for BSG moistening, and the grinding unit having an outlet for discharging grinded BSG. The grinding unit includes a stator and a rotor located coaxially with a gap defined between their working surfaces. A device for mixing and moving a mixture into the gap is fixed on a central part of an upper side of the rotor. A device for discharging grinded BSG is located under the rotor. The rotor is configured to allow staged grinding of BSG to obtain coarser and finer fractions of BSG at upper and lower stages of the rotor respectively. An upper part of the rotor is equipped with blades located around a circumference of the rotor, an outer surface of each blade being part of the working surface of the rotor.
