Abstract: In order to analyze the localization of the traffic supported by a base station of a cellular radio communication network, the process exploits the measurements of radio parameters made by the mobile stations with regard to the base station and to neighboring base stations. Statistical processing of these measurements makes it possible, with the aid of mapping data of the measured parameter, to determine the traffic densities within the cell, at least in zones of heavy traffic density. These results allow the operator of the network to select the best places to install new base stations, especially for microcells.
