  • Patent number: 5619986
Abstract: A reinhalation system for an anesthetic apparatus includes exhalation and inhalation branches which are directly connected to each other. The inhalation branch comprises a dosing unit capable of supplying a component to said inhalation branch. A control unit controls the dosing unit. A first concentration measuring device measuring the concentration of the component and a flow meter measuring a flow rate of a fluid are provided. The dosing unit supplies at least the component to the inhalation branch at a dosing point located downstream of the first concentration meter. The control unit controls the supply of the component as a function of the concentration of the component measured by the concentration meter and the flow rate of the fluid measured by the flow meter.

  • Patent number: 5044361
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for reuse of anesthetics in inhalation anesthesia is described. In the method, fresh gas is mixed with highly concentrated anesthetic from an anesthetics evaporator (3) in a collector conduit (1) leading into and out of a patient, in such a way that, when the patient exhales, the exhalation gas is passed through an adsorption filter (5) disposed in the ingoing and outgoing collector conduit (1) and arranged distally relative to the outlet (4) from the anesthetics evaporator (3), as seen from the patient (2), the anesthetic not absorbed by the patient being adsorbed by an adsorption material (6) in the adsorption filter (5), while the rest of the exhalation gas leaves the apparatus, the adsorbed anesthetic being desorbed from the adsorption material (6) when the patient inhales and retransferred to the patient.

  • Patent number: 4989597
Abstract: An apparatus for administration of at least two gases to a patient is described. The apparatus comprises a patient circuit (40) which consists of a circle system for rebreathing and a drive circuit (20), and which is provided with delivery means (45, 46) for supplying fresh gas, and a carbon dioxide absorber (44), the apparatus further comprising an actual value transducer (47) for the gas concentration of one gas type, a desired value transducer (81) for indicating the desired gas concentration, and a control device (80) for maintaining said gas concentration. The apparatus is characterised in that the patient circuit and the drive circuit communicate with each other via a gas switching unit or exchanger (30) for open separation, and that the control device (80) comprise a calculating means for determining the gas volume and gas type to be supplied to the patient circuit (40) so as to obtain the desired value concentration.
