Abstract: Provided herein is a method for producing alcohol. The method comprises fermenting milk permeate with yeast to produce a fermented broth comprising the ethanol. The fermented broth is then subjected to distillation to obtain a concentrated ethanol-enriched vapour having at least 50% v/v ethanol. From the ethanol-enriched vapour resulting from the distillation, an ethanol product is produced that is a biofuel or a potable spirit. The disclosure also provides a unique potable spirit composition produced from such process.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting change to a record in a file stored on an electronic token involves storing a change detection code (CDC) so that a change detection applet can calculate a current CDC for corresponding record(s), and compare the current CDC with the stored CDC to determine if data has changed. Any changes to records are registered by a registering element that provides a service feature, back-up of the file and/or synchronizes the file with other files stored remotely. One use of the method is to back-up phonebook records on USIM/SIM cards.

Abstract: A system for recording and displaying ultrasound images. The system includes a database server, an ultrasound image capture station and an ultrasound image review station. The ultrasound images are captured from an analog video signal stream output by an ultrasound machine and converted into compressed digital data preferably in MPEG format. The compressed digital data is archived to a compact disc recordable medium for permanent storage. The ultrasound images may be annotated by a sonographer as they are captured. The sonographer selects an annotation icon from a predefined list of icons to highlight points of interest in an ultrasound scan. The system also includes a demographic data module for tracking captured ultrasound scans, and a clinical data module for reporting ultrasound findings and diagnoses.
