  • Patent number: 5484044
Abstract: A device for the automatic control of vehicular brake systems on hills, in order to allow the vehicle to remain stopped on a hill even after the brake pedal of the vehicle has been released. The device automatically releases the brakes when the driving torque produced by the engine against the wheel braking elements is equal to, or greater than, the opposite braking torque resulting from the slope of the hill. An electromechanical control valve is mounted to the brake system of the vehicle, in order to allow or block the release of the braking fluid pressure applied to the wheel braking elements upon the activation of the valve by a control unit, which receives information about the applied driving torque from a load sensor mounted to the braking elements of at least one wheel of the vehicle.
