  • Patent number: 5098138
Abstract: A door and window supplemental security device prevents unauthorized entry through a closed or partly open door or window by bracing the door or window against a floor or window casement. The device is rapidly and easily released in the event of a fire or other emergency. It may be folded in half for transport to hotels. The device includes an axially translatable rod actuated by a manually operated over center mechanism disposed at one end of the rod to lock the rod in an axially extended position. Brace means is disposed at the other end of the rod for frictionally engaging a fixed surface upon axially extension of the rod. The brace means includes a pivotally attached component which pivots upon extension to effect the frictional contact.

  • Patent number: 4673113
Abstract: A hat stretching device including a spaced apart pair of oppositely facing hat engaging arcuate bands which are interconnected by an adjustment block. One of the arcuate bands and the adjustment block cooperatively define a ratchet mechanism which allows the spacing between the hat engaging bands to be quickly, easily, and repeatable set to a coarsely adjusted size. The other arcuate band and the adjustment block cooperatively define a threaded adjustment mechanism which allows the spacing between the hat engaging bands to be finely adjusted to a precise hat engaging size.

  • Patent number: 4230290
Abstract: An airplane angle of attack and direction of flight indicator includes a vane on the outside of the fuselage which is pivotally movable in response to changes in the airplane's angle of attack. A group of optical fibers are supported within the airplane with one end positioned for exposure to a light source. A light shield is movable into and out of blocking relation between the light source and optical fibers in response to pivotal movement of the vane. With the opposite ends of the optical fibers arranged in an indicator in the airplane cockpit, the illumination of fibers at the indicator affords a ready indication of the airplane's angle of attack. With the opposite ends of the fiber arranged in vertically spaced relation, a sighting device may be interposed between the pilot and indicator for establishing a line of sight along the actual direction of flight.
