  • Patent number: 5529821
Abstract: There is a disclosure of a method and a container for storing a blood or blood component, including a sheet material having a plurality of layers and wherein the layers are adhered to each other, at least a portion of the layer which contacts blood or blood components is composed of a block copolymer having a micro-phase separating structure. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a container which has excellent properties in relation to the storage of platelet, gas permeability and mechanical strength. Also, there is a disclosure of a method and a tube for transfusing blood or a blood component, including a tube material having a plurality of the same layers as the above.

  • Patent number: 5454806
Abstract: A medical device molded from a highly safe resin composition prepared by blending a vinyl chloride-based resin, a dialkyl malate, and a stabilizer is provided. The resin composition of the invention has physical properties equivalent to conventional resin compositions having blended therein a phthalate as the plasticizing agent, but is safer and has a higher blood storability. The medical devide may most preferably be a blood bag system.

  • Patent number: 4585835
Abstract: A polymer composition is disclosed. The polymer is comprised of a polymer (A) having a sulfo and/or carboxy ammonium zwitterion structure and an organic synthetic polymer (B), wherein either of the following condition (i) or (ii) is satisfied: (i) (A) is a polymer having 0 to 80% by weight of the polyalkylene oxide component, and (ii) (A) is a copolymer having 80% by weight or more of the polyalkylene oxide component and (B) is a polymer comprising polyalkylene oxide as a copolymer component. The polymer composition can be used in the production of fibers, films and other shaped articles. The products utilizing the disclosed polymer composition have excellent hydrophilic properties which are maintained even after exposure to numerous washings.
