  • Patent number: 7946777
Abstract: A multi-refill writing instrument includes a barrel, writing bodies accommodated in the barrel so as to be movable back and forth, elastic bodies urging the writing bodes backward, operating bodies connected to rear ends of the corresponding writing bodies and window holes formed in a side wall of the barrel so as to extend in the axial direction. The operating bodies protrude from the barrel to an outside through the window holes in the radial direction, one of the operating bodies slides forward along the window hole so that a nib of the writing body connected to the one operating body protrudes from the barrel through a front hole, and a nib of another writing body in a protruding state is retracted into the barrel, and the writing bodies and the operating bodes are pulled out from the barrel and inserted into the barrel.

  • Patent number: 5290117
Abstract: A penpoint assembly includes a penpoint which is made of a metal plate cut off at both side edges to form a taper toward the writing tip. A slit is provided extending from the front end of the writing tip to the vicinity of the rear end of the writing tip along the center line of the penpoint. The penpoint is bent at the writing tip to form small bent projections at both sides of the slit, the bent portion surrounding a small space. An ink guide core extends under the slit and communicates at the tapered portion of the ink guide core with the slit. A support member supports the ink guide core and penpoint. A writing instrument includes the penpoint assembly, the support member being integrally formed with an ink flow regulating portion, so that ink in an ink storage member in the rear portion of a penholder is guided to the writing tip through the ink guide core.

  • Patent number: 4913175
Abstract: In a liquid-applying tip assembly in which the liquid-applying member is pushed to operate the valve to allow the liquid to flow to the liquid-applying member, the liquid-applying member is a plastic member which comprises: a plurality of ribs extending radially and axially from an axial core in such a manner as to form a plurality of axial liquid passageways therebetween. A barrier is provided between the valve and the cylinder of the tip assembly, the barrier having a hole whose diameter is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the liquid-applying member to control the flow of liquid.

  • Patent number: 4410290
Abstract: A composite pen tip that comprises a core member inserted through a tubular casing to form an axial ink flow channel between the inner surface of the tubular casing and the core member. The core member is made of a material more wear-resistant than the tubular casing and the front ends of the core member and tubular casing are substantially flush with each other to form a level writing face. The tubular casing and the core member are curved in substantially the same form in at least one area in the axial direction and in substantially the same area so that said core member contacts the inner surface of said casing in the location of said curving and frictional contact thereat maintains said core front casing but permits said core to slide backward as said casing wears.
