Publication number: 20080123220Abstract: A first rail is formed on a medium-opposed surface in a head slider. A head element is embedded in the first rail. Second rails are formed on the medium-opposed surface at positions upstream of the head element. Negative pressure generating areas is defined at positions downstream of the second rail. A groove is formed on the medium-opposed surface. The groove isolates the first rail from a specific negative pressure generating area located nearest to the outflow end of the slider body among the negative pressure generating areas. Negative pressure is generated at the negative pressure generating areas behind the second rail. The lubricant spatters from the surface of the storage medium to the negative pressure generating areas. The lubricant moves downstream from the second rail. The lubricant directed to the first rail flows into the groove. The lubricant is prevented from reaching the first rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2007Publication date: May 29, 2008Applicant: Fujitsu LimitedInventor: Osamu Kajitani

Publication number: 20070133118Abstract: An information storage apparatus includes a magnetic head having a magnetic pole end that is controllable so as to project, a recording medium for recording and/or reproducing data, a protrusion provided on a surface of the recording medium, the protrusion being used for measuring a flying height of the magnetic head, and a flying-height adjustment controller that adjusts the flying height of the magnetic head by controlling the amount of projection of the magnetic pole end of the magnetic head on the basis of the amount of projection obtained when the magnetic pole end of the magnetic head comes into contact with the protrusion.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventor: Osamu Kajitani

Publication number: 20060209462Abstract: An adhesive layer is interposed between a head slider and a support member for fixing the head slider to the support member. A deformation body is interposed between the head slider and the support member. The deformation body has a coefficient of thermal expansion larger than that of the adhesive layer. The deformation body expands in response to rise in temperature. An internal force is induced in the head slider so as to distance the head slider away from the support member. Since the adhesive layer serves to fix the head slider to the support member, the internal force is transformed into stress in the head slider. The thermal expansion induces stress in the head slider in response to the rise in temperature. The stresses are balanced with each other, so that the head slider is prevented from deformation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2005Publication date: September 21, 2006Inventors: Osamu Kajitani, Masato Osawa
