  • Patent number: 4666599
Abstract: A water purification device in which a plurality of purification units, each having a sheet of extended activated charcoal cloth, are stacked in a multiple-tier form and the water to be treated is made to pass through the purification units, whereby the water is purified. A plurality of purification units, each having a sheet of extended activated charcoal cloth, are stacked in a form of a multiple-tier form, and are spaced apart from each other by a specific distance in a purification chamber defined in a purification tank having an inlet and an outlet. A rotating shaft is rotatably supported to extend through the centers of the purification units, and electrode rods supported as cantilevers by the rotating shaft. Sparks are produced between the electrode rods and the sheets of activated charcoal cloth so that adsorbed substances are removed. The water purification device is used to purify municipal water for industrial or household use.

  • Patent number: 4543902
Abstract: Disclosed is a hull of a vessel such as a tanker. The hull is basically composed of three hemispheres, at least of two of the hemispheres having an equal diameter, the three hemispheres being connected to one another such that the lines connecting the center of the hemisphere located at the bow side to the centers of the two hemispheres of the equal diameter constitute two sides of an equilateral triangle. With this hull construction, it is possible to obtain the maximum internal volume with minimized outer surface area, while attaining a superior steering and running performance.

  • Patent number: 4398295
Abstract: Apparatus for regenerating activated carbon comprises a desorption tank having at its bottom an elongate channel-form passage sloping downwardly from an inlet end to an outlet end. A pulse voltage is applied to electrodes extending along the passage to regenerate the activated carbon as it flows from the inlet to the outlet. Flow of the activated carbon is intercepted by transverse weirs provided at spaced intervals along the length of the passage. An oscillatory swinging motion imparted to the tank by eccentrics on a rotating shaft promotes flow of the activated carbon along the passage from the inlet to the outlet and in particular causes carbon particles which have become lighter by virtue of regeneration to pass preferentially over the weirs and thereby progress more rapidly toward the outlet.

  • Patent number: 3965846
Abstract: A special high-speed boat fixed with a propeller unit under a hull, is provided. The propeller unit includes a plurality of wheels which are arranged in a space provided in the propeller unit. An endless belt having a certain number of fixed thereto blades moves from one of the plurality of wheels to another, such that some of the blades extend outside of the propeller unit into water.
