  • Patent number: 5596270
Abstract: An IC transportation mechanism is provided with a transportation mechanism having a first and a second groups of suction units. When the first group of suction units retain ICs on a first supply stage by suction or release ICs on a first storage stage, a second group of suction units press ICs on IC sockets concurrently. When the second group of suction units retain ICs on a second supply stage by suction or release ICs onto a second storage stage, the first group of suction units press ICs on the IC sockets concurrently. As a result, it is possible to provide a high-speed IC transportation mechanism which concurrently takes in and out ICs during a reciprocation cycle of the transportation mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5523678
Abstract: A suction unit for an IC component transport assembly. The suction unit includes a support block that is fixedly attached to the moving element of the transport assembly. The suction unit further includes a swinging block and a floating block to allow the suction unit to both move pivotally and from side-to-side relative to the moving block. A presser block is attached to the floating block and is provided with a suction pad for holding the IC component. The presser block includes outwardly and downwardly extending guide pins. Posts located adjacent the IC socket are adapted to receive the presser block guide pins. As the suction unit is moved downward, the guide pins are received in the guide posts to ensure that the IC will be accurately positioned and placed in the IC socket.

  • Patent number: 5231753
Abstract: In case of inserting an IC having multiple pins into an IC socket so as to be brought into contact with the IC socket, a contact pressure application unit is integrated with the IC socket, whereby the IC is inserted into and brought into contact with the IC socket without bending a lead of the IC. An IC contact mechanism comprises a contact pressure application unit having a through hole at the center thereof, the contact pressure application unit also having a mold guide portion so as to contact an outer periphery of a package of an IC and a lead presser portion for pressing a lead of the IC; and a suction block having a suction pad at the tip end thereof and movable vertically in the through hole of the contact pressure application unit characterized in that the IC is inserted into a contact socket so as to be brought into contact with the contact socket while the suction pad sucks the IC.

  • Patent number: 4911648
Abstract: An IC connection/disconnection mechanism and a method for carrying out the same comprises a lifting plate for mounting and lifting the IC having a lead frame thereon, a measuring socket mounted on a base and having terminals capable of contacting the terminals of the IC, stoppers mounted on the base, first springs coiled around stoppers for supporting the lifting plate, a pusher having recesses at both sides thereof in which presser pins are housed corresponding to the stoppers, and second springs coiled around the presser pins and having resilience force greater than that of the first springs. Due to difference of the resilience forces of the first and the second springs, firstly the pusher is moved away from the lifting plate, then the lifting plate makes the IC move away from the measuring socket.

  • Patent number: 4757889
Abstract: A guide height adjuster comprises a block consisting of a plurality of steps of different heights integrally joined together and having a slot formed to allow the passage of a screw across all the steps, a guide holder having a through hole for the insertion of the screw, and a guide to formed as to cover substantially a channel through which components being handled pass, the guide being secured to, and supported by, the guide holder. The guide holder rests on one of the steps and is fastened to the block by the screw so that the guide can be held above the channel. The height of the guide above the channel can be changed by loosening the screw and moving the block with respect to the screw, thereby shifting the guide holder to another block step of a desired height.
