  • Patent number: 5416358
Abstract: An IC card includes: a circuit board on which functional components are mounted; and a frame covered with a thin plate, the circuit board being disposed in the frame, the inside of the frame being filled with a foamed resin. As a result of the above arrangement, an IC card having a strong resistance to various external forces is produced. Furthermore, because it is possible to incorporate a surface material with a design in an integrally molded device, thus it is also possible to produce an IC card device having an excellent appearance.

  • Patent number: 5215798
Abstract: Optical recording media include substrates of a larger diameter formed by injection molding a copolymer of ethylene with a cyclic olefin. The media are adapted for high speed rotation with the benefits of a high output, high C/N, and low noise level. When a protective substrate of glass is attached to the polyolefin substrate such that the recording layer is inside, there is obtained a light-weight rigid disk which experiences minimal axial runouts and hence, minimal focusing errors during high rotational speed operation.

  • Patent number: 5213862
Abstract: An optical recording disk is constructed using an injection molded substrate of a cyclic polyolefin having a recurring structural unit of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from hydrocarbon groups. The disk has a diameter of at least 200 mm, and is rotated at 1,800 rpm or higher during recording/reproducing operation. Despite a larger diameter, the disk experiences minimized occurrence of double refraction during high speed rotation, ensuring high outputs with a high C/N and a low noise level.

  • Patent number: 4995029
Abstract: An optical disk in a cartridge can be identified when loaded in a disk drive system, by changing the openness of a hole in the cartridge to impart at least four types of identifying information, and detecting the openness of the hole by a sensor in the drive system. To establish four different states, two small and large apertures are formed in major walls of the cartridge to define a through window and a shield member is fixedly or slidably mounted between the walls so as to clear or shield a portion or the entirety of the through window.

  • Patent number: 4899277
Abstract: A bore hole scanner includes a light projecting device for projecting a light beam toward a bore hole wall surface. A conical mirror is arranged coaxially with respect to a sonde for condensing light reflected from the bore hole wall surface. An image forming device is arranged in front of the conical mirror. A photoelectric transducing device converts a light signal into an electric signal. Optical fibers introduce an image, which is formed on concentric circles by the image forming device to the photoelectric transducing device. A data processing device scans and extracts signals from the photoelectric transducing device and generates and processes image data indicative of the bore hole wall surface. A sonde position detecting device detects the orientation and position of the sonde. Rotating portions are dispensed with by using the conical mirror and optical fibers, and a linear CCD array can be used as the photoelectric transducing device.
