  • Patent number: 9360963
Abstract: A mobile phone 10 comprises a display 14 that is provided on a case 12 so as to be rendered as a narrow frame, a touch panel 16 that is provided on the display 14, etc. An operation inhibition area (80a, 80b) is set to the left side and the right side of a touch effective area of the touch panel 16, respectively. If the operation inhibition area is touched in a state where an arbitrary function is being executed, for example, the operation inhibition area and a cancellation icon (82) are displayed on the display 14. If a temporary cancellation operation is performed at this time, the operation inhibition area is temporarily canceled.

  • Publication number: 20150205435
Abstract: A portable terminal is provided that appropriately suppresses operating error when a user is holding the portable terminal. The portable terminal executes processing corresponding to a contact position on a touch panel and includes a detector that detects an orientation change of the portable terminal and a controller storing information defining a predefined region having a high probability of erroneous contact by a user during the orientation change. The controller disables input due to contact within the predefined region during a predefined time period after detection of the orientation change and the predefined region is within a portion of a peripheral region of the touch panel.

  • Patent number: 7711046
Abstract: Blocks in two different frames are subjected to Hadamard transform by first and second Hadamard transform circuits, and a sum component and a difference component are calculated for the components of the two blocks corresponding to each other to perform three-dimensional Hadamard transform, so that detection is made as to whether or not these blocks include a motion. While the sum component and the difference component are encoded for the block determined as including a motion, a motion detection result, rather than the difference component, is encoded for the block determined as including no motion. As a result, a high compression ratio can be achieved in video encoding with a small-scale circuit.
