  • Patent number: 6106478
Abstract: The invention relates to a sphygmomanometer capable of highly accurately judging the maximum blood pressure and minimum blood pressure, which has a cuff 10 which is attached to an appointed portion of a patient and presses the artery by supplying air therein; an optical range sensor 12 which is located opposite said cuff 10 and is able to detect the pulsation displacement of said artery; a digital processing section 14 which is able to judge the maximum and minimum blood pressure of said patient on the basis of photoelectric volumetric pulse wave signals sent out by said optical range sensor 12; and a display section 38 which is able to display the maximum and minimum blood pressure values judged by said digital data processing section 14.

  • Patent number: 5840037
Abstract: The invention relates to a cuff for a sphygmomanometer, which is able to judge the maximum blood pressure and minimum blood pressure at a high accuracy. The cuff 10 comprises a bendably deformable hard curved plate 10a, an outside cloth 10b which surrounds the outer periphery of said curved plate 10a, an inside cloth 10c sewed to the outside cloth 10b so that the same surrounds the inner periphery of said curved plate 10a, an air bag 10d secured inside the inside cloth 10c, and an engaging fastener 10e sewed to the outer periphery of the outside cloth 10b. The air bag 10d is composed of a transparent bag member 10g in which reinforcing fabric 10f is incorporated in a latticed state. Each optical range sensor 12 is composed of a photocoupler 12a fixed at the outside of the bag member 10g and a reflection plate 12b fixed at the inside of the bag member 10g so as to be opposite to the photocoupler 12a.

  • Patent number: 4660567
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for linearly pressurizing a cuff, affixed to the limb of a patient, with gas from a liquified gas tank, monitoring Korotkoff sounds that appear and disappear during cuff pressurization to ascertain approximate systolic and diastolic blood pressures as cuff pressurization is in process, halting pressurization at a point slightly higher than the approximate systolic blood pressure and then immediately depressurizing the cuff at a regulated rate to actually measure and determine true systolic blood pressure. Following the determination of systolic blood pressure, the cuff is depressurized at a rapid rate down to a point slightly higher than the approximate diastolic blood pressure and is then depressurized again at the regulated rate again to actually measure and determine true diastolic blood pressure.

  • Patent number: 4519248
Abstract: This invention provides a device for measuring a whole day urinary output, which includes an outer cylindrical container and an inner hollow tubular container positioned in the outer cylindrical container for proportionally sampling urine from the outer container. The inner container is vertically studded in the outer container and both containers are openably-closably communicated with each other at the bottom of the device and the inner container is openably-closably communicated with a reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4455882
Abstract: This invention provides a device for measuring a whole day urinary output, which includes an outer cylindrical container and an inner hollow tubular container to be positioned in the outer cylindrical container for sampling the urinary from the outer container. In one aspect, the inner container is vertically studded in the outer container and both containers are openably-closably communicated with each other at the bottom of the device and the inner container has an openably-closably communicated with the reservoir. In the other aspect, the inner hollow tubular container is a portable sampling tube used in combination with a packing plug. The packing plug has a hollow cylindrical portion and a plug body having a frustoconical head integrally formed with the hollow cylinder and a cylindrical portion underlying the head.
