  • Patent number: 10859260
Abstract: In staged combustion, wherein fuel is fed into a furnace, and less than all of the gaseous oxidant needed to completely combust the fuel is fed with the fuel and combusted, providing uncombusted fuel, and the remaining portion of gaseous oxidant needed to combust the fuel is fed into the furnace through a second port, fuel is fed and combusted at the second port to heat the second port and lessen the tendency of deposits to form at the second port.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 19, 2018
Date of Patent: December 8, 2020
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Osemwengie Uyi Iyoha, Jesse E Cates
  • Patent number: 10792610
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for modifying the VPSA/VSA/PSA cycle to allow for maximum product pressure without the need for a base load oxygen compressor (BLOC) or base load oxygen blower (BLOB), thus supplying low pressure oxygen (3 to 7 Psig) to the end user while at the same time lowering product costs 10 to 30%. The system of this invention preferably employs larger piping runs from the VPSA to the oxy-fuel control skids, larger piping for the oxy-fuel control skid, larger piping for the VPSA, low pressure drop flow measurements, and low pressure drop check valves.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 5, 2018
Date of Patent: October 6, 2020
    Assignee: PRAXAIR TECHNOLOGY, INC.
Inventors: Nicholas R. Stuckert, Yang Luo, Osemwengie Uyi Iyoha, Jeffrey Abbatiello, Timothy M. Aaron
  • Patent number: 10273178
Abstract: A glassmelting furnace is provided in which the burners are elevated above the glassmelt surface and are oriented at an angle upwards relative to the glassmelt surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2015
Date of Patent: April 30, 2019
    Assignee: PRAXAIR TECHNOLOGY, INC.

  • Patent number: 9541290
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of operating a furnace containing a charge to heat the charge, comprising wherein gaseous oxidant comprising 60 vol. % to 85 vol. % oxygen is passed through a heated regenerator and into the furnace, so that the oxidant is heated to emerge from an oxidant port at a temperature of 500° C. to 1400° C., and gaseous fuel is fed into said furnace through two or more fuel ports; and the heated oxidant and fuel are combusted in the furnace to produce gaseous hot products of said combustion which heat the charge; and then the flow of oxidant through the regenerator into the furnace is discontinued, and said combustion products are passed into said oxidant port and through and out of said cooled regenerator to heat said regenerator, wherein the temperature of the combustion products that pass out of said regenerator is at least 500° C.; under dimensional and operational conditions which attain functional and economic advantages.
