  • Patent number: 8320819
Abstract: Provided are apparatuses and methods for transmitting and receiving ESG fragments containing identification information. In one example, the identification identifies a mobile operator. For example, the identification information may include a Mobile Network Code (MNC), Mobile Country Code (MCC), or name corresponding to the mobile operator. In another example, the identification information may also contain a web address corresponding to a web page associated with the mobile operator. For example, the identification information received in the ESG fragment may be compared to stored identification information at a receiver. Based on the identification information in the ESG fragment and stored identification information, a corresponding web page may be provided. Also, a program or service corresponding to the ESG fragment may be filtered based on the identification information in the ESG fragment and stored identification information.

  • Patent number: 6032034
Abstract: A WLL subscriber unit (1) that operates in accordance with a method for establishing a call from a telephone (2) that forms a part of a WLL subscriber unit. The method includes the steps of: (a) dialing a first digit of a telephone number; and (b) detecting the first digit and, in response to detecting the first digit, automatically transmitting a message over an RF channel, the transmitted message being a call origination message having a telephone number portion that contains only the first dialed digit. The method further includes the steps of (c) waiting for a response from the network; (d) when the response is received, determining if at least one additional digit has been dialed; and (e) if yes, transmitting a further message over the RF channel, the transmitted further message being another call origination message having a telephone number portion that contains the first dialed digit and the at least one additional dialed digit that is appended to the first dialed digit.

  • Patent number: 5953675
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing information in a wireless local loop (WLL) terminal and a WLL terminal. According to the present invention, a WLL terminal comprises a display device, and character-based information, first data, is converted to second data for displaying it on the display. Said first data is advantageously converted in such a manner that a bitmap (222) is first formed on the basis of the character-based first data and then a line code (223) is formed on the basis of said bitmap. The line code is transferred (224, 225) by means of known facsimile transmission technology to a fax machine serving as a display device and displayed by the fax machine (226). The invention can be applied in wireless local loops to implement services that use information in character format. Such services include the short message service and display of caller data.
