Publication number: 20240001337Abstract: The method includes mixing an aldehyde and a first solvent to form a mixture. The method further includes mixing an organosulfur phenol and an aromatic compound to the mixture to form a phenol mixture and heating the phenol mixture in the presence of an acid to form a solid. The solid is dried to obtain the cross-linked porous polymer. The obtained cross-linked porous polymer has repeat pyrrole units bonded to one another, and the cross-linked porous polymer has a thiol group which separates non-adjacent pyrrole units. The cross-linked porous polymer obtained after drying is in a form of solid particles having a spherical particle structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2022Publication date: January 4, 2024Applicant: KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM AND MINERALSInventors: Othman Charles Sadeq AL HAMOUZ, Mahmoud Mohamed ABDELNABY

Publication number: 20230348796Abstract: A composition and method for the removal of water from a water-containing hydrocarbon stream, and a method for the production of a metal/water-soluble polymer composite are provided. The composite includes a water-soluble polymer, such as guar gum, and a metal salt, such as aluminum nitrate or copper sulfate. The ratio of the metal salt to the water-soluble polymer is in the range from about 1:1 to about 5:1 by mass. The water-soluble polymer and the metal salt form a crosslinked material. The method for producing the metal/water-soluble polymer composite includes mixing a non-crosslinked water-soluble polymer with a metal salt and water to form a paste. The paste is then dried.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2022Publication date: November 2, 2023Applicants: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANY, KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM & MINERALSInventors: Youcef Mankour, Othman Charles Sadeq Al Hamouz
