  • Patent number: 9609116
Abstract: This invention describes a method for establishing an ad-hoc group based on addresses of users in a message (e.g., an e-mail) received or sent using a pre-selected communication method (e.g., an e-mail communication) by an electronic device. Any recipient or a sender of the e-mail message can use the e-mail addresses in the message in order to establish a permanent (stored in the device) or a temporary (used immediately in a context of another communication application) ad-hoc group. The user may select all or only a part of the people (other users) into the ad-hoc group. The group-data can have several types of addresses of users such as phone numbers, SIP addresses, wireless village IDs, etc. needed in conjunction with desired applications. Creating the ad-hoc group from the e-mail message can utilize information that already exists in the electronic device and, if needed, acquired additional information from a remote service.

  • Patent number: 7526762
Abstract: A system and method are provided that allow a user to perform information management tasks and access the Internet. The system includes a terminal that is part of a family and capable of wireless communication, a gateway, an Internet Service Provider (ISP), a server for authenticating the terminal, a global unit for providing the internet address of the server to the terminal, and browser logic stored in the terminal or the server. The method includes the steps of powering on the terminal, establishing a communication link with the gateway to obtain an internet address for the terminal relative to the internet address of the gateway, obtaining an internet address for the server, and establishing a family communication session between the terminal and the server to allow access to information management services, and launching a browser to provide an interface to the internet.

  • Publication number: 20060098238
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for coupling a first device to a second device having a module containing subscriber-related data therein, the data being usable and accessible by a user of the first device, wherein the activation of the usability and accessibility of the data is tied to “on-demand” user interaction in the first device in the form of an initiation of a communications session, such as making a phone call or data connection, or opening a communicator, or sending an email, or other suitable communications session. The activation may include the initiation of the phone call from a phonebook in the first device, an attachment by the user of an audio accessory such as a headset or a conference call stand, a physical opening by the user of the first device such as into a conference call mode, a request by the user for a cellular data connection, including starting an email application, launching a Web browser, or selecting “fetch messages” or “send now”.
