  • Patent number: 6559395
Abstract: A canceling device (10) effects automatic cancellation of a switched position of a blinker switch. The canceling device (10) comprises a trigger finger (14) which can be rotated about an axis and which can also be displaced. The trigger finger is loaded towards a steering shaft by a spring (72). To reduce the dimensions of the canceling device (10), the spring is a leaf spring (72), one side of which loads the trigger finger (14) towards the steering shaft and the other side of which is supported on a casing (12) of the canceling device (10).

  • Patent number: 6465751
Abstract: A canceling device (10) for a blinker switch in motor vehicles effects automatic return of the blinker switch from one of the two switched positions into the neutral central position. Towards this end, a casing (12) having a catch profile (14) is provided as is a movable pretensioned trigger finger (16) which can be loaded by the cam (128) of a steering shaft (44) and with a pivotable switching part (26) having pretensioned catch elements (62,64). To reduce the actuating forces, the catch profile (14) is provided with a movable locking section (54,56). The trigger finger (16) should be connected to the movable locking section (54,56) such that the locking section (54,56) releases the catch element (62,64) when the trigger finger (16) is actuated.

  • Patent number: 5283403
Abstract: Steering column switches for motor vehicles having a switch housing and an operating lever are known, which operating lever is swivellably mounted about an axis in the switch housing and which comprises a control grip rotatable about an axis of rotation extending in the longitudinal direction of the operating lever and which control grip is movable between at least two operating positions, and a switching rod at least substantially aligned in the longitudinal direction of the operating lever and substantially rotatable about the longitudinal axis via the control grip and via which switching rod at least one electric contact accommodated in the switch housing is movable. In most cases the motorcar manufacturers desire particular angles of rotation between the individual operating positions of the control grip. These angles of rotation are not always favorable for operating the electric contact.

  • Patent number: 4882457
Abstract: A steering column switch for motor vehicles comprises a switch member guiding the bridging contact and being swivellably located around an axis. The stationary contacts, however, acted upon by this bridging contact are arranged along a straight line and in a plane repsectively in parallel to the axis of rotation of the switch member. The bridging contact is not directly guided by the switch member, but by a switching arm substantially radially swivellable in relation to the switch member so that the bridging contact is movable along a staight line despite the circular movement of the switch member.

  • Patent number: 4857815
Abstract: This invention relates to a switch for energizing an electric motor of a wiper system from a voltage source, which motor has a switching member to be changed over in several modes of continuous operation as well as in a mode of intermittment operation. The switching member has two bridging contacts of which the first one co-operates with stationary contacts on a first contact path and the second one with stationary contacts on a second contact path. Thereby in at least one switching position a further mode of operation of the wiper system may be switched on via the second bridging contact and the stationary contacts of the associated second contact path in addition to intermittent operation. The switch has thus a high operational reliability, because there is little risk for a simultaneous failure of a stationary contact associated to the same mode of operation on both contact paths.

  • Patent number: 3940579
Abstract: A switch particularly for steering columns of automobiles for the selective operation of both light circuits and windshield wiper and washer circuits comprises a U-shaped spring contact having a first spring contact portion in a first plane and a second spring contact portion in a second plane. The switch includes a lever which is pivotal in both the first and second planes and which carries a rod member which may be engaged with the spring first portion to deflect it into engagement with a fixed contact for example for actuating a windshield wiper washer fluid supply circuit and which may be engaged during its pivotal movement for example in a vertical direction to move the spring second portion to engage a fixed contact which for example may operate a by-pass light circuit. The double spring contact actually includes the first spring portion which extends substantially vertical and at right angles to a horizontal portion.
