  • Patent number: 4127013
Abstract: To make knit plush fabric having a base knitted fabric which base yarn is knitted to four knit stitches or loops and an inlay or plating plush yarn having loops in side portions is interknitted with and anchored in the base fabric, one of the beds, for example, the dial of a circular knitting machine has plush latch needles which are formed with an auxiliary angled latch, pivoted to rotate with respect to the needle shank in parallel with operation of the normal latch tongue, and a spring secured to the needle to lock the auxiliary angled latch in position. The other bed of the machine will carry sinker lamella and, if open plush fabric is desired, cutters to cut open the pile loops.

  • Patent number: 4026126
Abstract: An inlay or plaiting yarn is passed through knit stitches of a plain knitted fabric, the plaiting yarn is wrapped around the side portions of the knit stitches of the base fabric by a needle having a main latch and an auxiliary, angled latch, is knocked off over the tip end of the needle while the stitch of the main fabric is caught in the hook thereof, the plaiting yarn being pulled down by sinkers to pull the plaiting yarn tight about the lateral sides of the base knit fabric to form loop piles, and cut, if desired, to form cut pile fabric.

  • Patent number: 3930383
Abstract: To permit selective needle projection, under control of a patterning arrangement, the needle jacks are made for rocking movement about an axis transverse to the direction of needle projection during knitting, and the camming system for the needle jacks is formed with two tracks, located one above the other (by a deeper cut, or camming elements of different heights) or, longitudinally staggered, one adjacent to the other, the cam tracks being arranged for selected projection of the needles to tuck or knit position; the needle jacks having either a butt projecting far enough to selectively engage either of the superimposed cam tracks, depending on the extent of rocking of the needle jack about the fulcrum, or the needle jack being formed with two butts, one on either side of the fulcrum, and selectively engaging the adjacent cam tracks, depending on the direction of rocking of the jack from a center position.
