  • Patent number: 8047302
Abstract: Disclosed is a drilling and/or striking hammer that includes a lubricating device having a lubricant reservoir and a volume of lubricant contained therein. The lubricating device conveys lubricant to at least one a transmission system within the hammer's housing, a percussion system, and/or a tool holder at a variable dosing or flow rate. The dosing or flow rate varies as a function of tool stress which can include use intensity and/or temperature. A flexible tube extends between the reservoir and the lubricated component(s). At lease part of the flexible tube vibrates with the lubricated components during use and modifies a viscosity of the lubricant therein, based on tool use intensity. A pressure generating device can pressurize the lubricant, helping convey the lubricant to a targeted area for lubricating movable parts.

  • Publication number: 20080035101
Abstract: The invention relates to an oil supply for an internal combustion engine, comprising an oil supply device for the supply of oil to a piston, reciprocating in a cylinder. The oil supply device is embodied such that at least at a point at which the piston is in the region of bottom dead centre, oil is introduced directly into a region below the piston, by means of the oil supply device, in particular, beneath the piston crown and within the piston skirt. The oil supply device thus comprises at least one tube element, extending into a region beneath the piston crown. The tube element terminates as close as possible to a gudgeon pin, when the piston is at bottom dead centre. A targeted lubrication of the mechanically and thermally highly loaded gudgeon pin can thus be guaranteed. It is also possible by means of the oil supply to supply transfer ports of a two-stroke engine with oil, counteracting a tendency to coke up.

  • Publication number: 20070163370
Abstract: The invention relates to a wobble drive, in which a shaft supports a wobble ring by means of a pivot bearing, a finger extending from said ring. To reduce vibrations caused by the movement of the finger, at least one balancing mass is configured on the shaft. Alternatively or in addition, at least one balancing mass can be provided on the wobble ring. This allows the vibrations that are caused naturally by the movement of the finger to be compensated.

  • Publication number: 20070034396
Abstract: The invention relates to a hand-held working tool, comprising a first unit, powered by a vibration on operation and a second unit which may be displaced relative to the first unit. A vibration isolation device is arranged between the first and second unit, comprising an actuator, for generation of a control force, by means of which the operational force acting in the working direction (A) between the first and the second unit may be at least partly compensated. The actuator is pneumatically operated and comprises an air spring for vibration isolation. A working piston in an air spring percussion device on the working tool serves to supply compressed air for the air spring. Alternatively, the compressed air can be supplied by the oscillating relative movement between the first unit and the second unit.

  • Patent number: 5109389
Abstract: An apparatus for melting metallic stock as a crucible in which the metallic stock is received and melted, the stock in the crucible having an axis along which the force of gravity varies, and an inductive heating system which generates an inductive heating field having an inductive power density which varies along the axis. • Patent number: 5021299
Abstract: Method for the charging and controlled addition of pre-alloys to molten alloys of metals reactive and nonreactive at room temperature which are held in a crucible. To permit pre-alloys with a high percentage of reactive metal to be handled more easily, a casting is produced from the reactive and nonreactive metals by a casting process followed by solification. This casting is nonreactive at its surface at room temperature and its average content of reactive metal is equal to or greater than the reactive metal content in the crucible. Such castings are added to the crucible according to the need for the reactive metal. In an especially advantageous manner, a casting produced in a casting mold in a nonreactive atmosphere has at least at its surface such a content of nonreactive metal that it is stable at room temperature.

  • Patent number: 4797897
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the distance of a melting electrode from the surface of melted material in a vacuum arc furnace which uses short circuits caused by the droplets between the melting electrode and the surface of the melted material as a control criterion. The short circuits occurring within a given period of time--the so-called droplet rate--are determined and supplied to an averager which is connected with a controller that controls an electric driving mechanism for the melting electrode. According to the invention, the controller is responsive to a signal representing the difference between the reciprocal value of the droplet rate signal formed by the averager and a desired time, this desired time being equal to the desired average time between two consecutive droplet short circuits.

  • Patent number: 4767452
Abstract: Process and equipment for separating molten metals with a distillation part (1) and a condenser part. The metal vessel (12) of the distillation part (1) is tiltable about at least one horizontal articulated axle (15) and is connected to a drive mechanism (18) for generating periodic tilting motions. In this way, it is possible to keep the melt in motion by means of a rocking motion of the melt vessel and to improve the distillation effect and reduce the distillation time.

  • Patent number: 4742528
Abstract: A compensation device for the influence of the weight of a power feed line on a weight measurement device determining the weight of an electrode and/or the melting rate in an electro-slag remelting process, in a vacuum arc furnace or the like. When an x-y device is adjusted, a weight jump occurs due to the forces of the power cable or the forces of the bellows, which has a disturbing effect on the rate definition. This weight jump can be prevented by means of mechanical devices, or can be made so small that it no longer constitutes a disturbance. However, the expenditure for this is disproportionately high. The invention is more cost efficient, since hardware or software means suffice. The weight function G=f(t) is extrapolated and compared with the actually measured weight G'=f(t). The magnitude of the difference between the two is stored and later added as a correction value.

  • Patent number: 4639567
Abstract: Method and apparatus for melting rod-shaped material 12. This is continuously displaced in the direction of the rod axis towards an induction coil (5), disposed at the lower end (12a) of the rod, which has an opening coaxial with the rod and which is supplied with an alternating current. An induction coil (5) is used of which the axial dimension is several times smaller than the radial dimension. Preferably, a so-called flat-coil is used. The induction coil has an opening (5c) which is smaller than the rod diameter. On melting the lower end (12a) of the rod is held with its end face at a substantially constant spacing above the induction coil (5). The method and apparatus are suitable for the production of metal powder and for the direct production of shaped parts.

  • Patent number: 4495624
Abstract: A graphite nipple projecting from one end of a graphite electrode portion of the type used in an electric furnace has a supporting face for receiving a non-graphite portion of a clamping device in shape-locking engagement for holding the electrode for use. It also has a conventional screw-thread surface for joining the nipple to another electrode portion for extending the electrode. The supporting face does not alter the conventional screw-thread surface arrangement for joining electrode portions so that specially-shaped and thus costly electrode-supporting nipples are not required in addition to the conventionally-shaped nipples for joining electrode portions, and a graphite screw-thread does not have to be unscrewed for the same, which unscrewing frequently broke the nipple or electrode portion.
