Abstract: Providing access to task lists via social communications systems is provided. A user may expose a list authoring surface and associated task lists to other users via one or more social communications systems. When another user attempts to access contents of the list authoring surface, the user attempting access may be required to provide permissions credentials, or the attempting user's social communications account may be designated as a permissioned account from which access to the contents of the list authoring surface may be obtained. Version control management may be applied to the accessed task lists to ensure accessing users receive access to most up-to-date versions of accessed task lists. Once an accessing user obtains access to a given task list, the accessing user may comment on accessed tasks, make changes to accessed tasks and/or collaborate on accessed tasks.

Contextual information associated with the data objects and the activity is collected to establish the relationship. The contextual information may include data objects that are accessed or created while the activity is in progress, or any other information associated with the activity. When an event related to the activity occurs, the object tracking module locates data relevant to the event based on the established relationships. The relevant data is presented in the same information space where the event occurs. A user may easily access the relevant information without manually searching for the data. The object tracking module may determine the degree of relevance between the data objects and the event such that only the most relevant objects are displayed.

Abstract: A handwriting guide including an active and/or inactive writing guide is rendered by displaying a shaded outline object having a line for receiving electronic ink, displaying the active writing guide thereby indicating a location of a current active context, and expanding the active and/or inactive writing guide up to a maximum width of the outline object in response to receiving more electronic ink within a line. The active writing guide can comprise a bracket displayed on each corner of a writing area distinguished on a line and can correspond to an insertion point upon switching to text mode. A drawing guide that includes an active and/or inactive drawing guide is rendered by displaying a shaded drawing guide and the active drawing guide in response to detecting ink strokes within the drawing guide. The active drawing guide can comprise a bounding rectangle encompassing a drawing area that receives ink strokes.

Data associated with a second entity is extracted from one or more non-dedicated sources external to the electronic communication. The extracted data is presented to a first entity as the interactive profile of the second entity in the electronic communication application. The interactive profile is also capable of acting as an electronic communication channel through which the first and second entities may communicate.

The received text string may be configured to be displayed on a display by the text editor. The text string may comprise information entered by a user into the text editor. The information may include equation text and language text associated with the equation text. Next, the text string may be parsed to detect an equation within the equation text in the text string. At least one calculation indicated by the detected equation may be performed to produce a result. The result may then be displayed.

Abstract: A software application window shows current content in a content region and navigation information in a plurality of navigation regions, with the navigation regions showing contextual information for the current content, as well as for related content. A request to hide navigation information is received, and navigation information for related content is hidden from the window. Any space made available by the hidden content is used to expand the content region, while maintaining the same size and location of the software application window.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automatically adjusting printing settings to optimize the fit of text, data and/or images on printed pages. Once selected text or data is designated for printing, a determination is made as to whether the selected text or data may be printed on a single page or whether multiple pages are required. The best fit of the text or data on a single or multiple pages is accomplished by incrementally adjusting a number of different print settings until an optimum fit of the text or data is achieved on a single page or on a set of pages. Print settings include margins, scale, and orientation.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer products are provided for preventing display of sensitive information. Displayed information may be designated as sensitive information and may be covered from display on a computer screen display by an opaque covering. The sensitive information covering may be removed to expose the underlying information in response to minimal user action. Uncovered sensitive information may be automatically re-covered according to a number of triggering mechanisms.

Abstract: Displaying a writing guide for a free-form document editor by detecting electronic ink, classifying the detected ink as corresponding to handwriting or a drawing, and displaying a handwriting guide or a drawing guide in response to classifying the detected ink as handwriting or a drawing, respectively. The writing guides can provide feedback regarding the classification of the detected ink and can be resized as additional ink is detected. The handwriting guide can comprise a writing area, writing guide portion, bullet guide, indent marker, character notches, gesture guide, or sacrificial guide to create meaningful structure within an outline object of an electronic document.
