  • Patent number: 9624115
Abstract: The present invention relates to radiation reactors for sanitizing fluids. In particular the present invention concerns a radiation reactor for a fluid, whereby the radiation reactor comprises a tubular casing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and, the radiation reactor also comprises a radiating element, with the radiation element being arranged within the tubular casing. As a fluid is passed into the tubular casing through the fluid inlet, a first direction of rotation is imparted to the fluid. The fluid is discharged from the tubular casing through the fluid outlet, after the fluid has been irradiated by the radiating element.

  • Patent number: 9115007
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an assembly and a method of treating rainwater to produce potable water. A compact and easy-to-install apparatus is achievable as a result of a simple, yet highly effective sanitization method. Rainwater is entrained with a gas, and the entrained rainwater is irradiated with an ultraviolet (UV) light to fully sanitize the rainwater. The UV light is used during the irradiation of the entrained water and is also used to form a gaseous bactericide which is used to entrain the rainwater. None of the disadvantages of the prior art systems apply to any rainwater treatment systems which use this method. All of the connections between the component parts may be already provided for in this rainwater treatment unit, and consequently both installation and maintenance costs will be significantly reduced in comparison to the rainwater treatment systems which are known from the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20100032378
Abstract: According to the invention there is provided a tertiary effluent treatment process for reducing the phosphate levels in effluent. The process comprises the steps of delivering effluent from a wastewater treatment plant to a primary filter, delivering the filtered effluent to a series of two or more phosphate removal filters, delivering the filtered phosphate-depleted effluent to a treated water tank as treated water, delivering the filtered phosphate-depleted effluent from the treated water tank to a discharge tank as treated water; and, discharging the treated water from the discharge tank as required. Each phosphate removal filter comprises a plurality of polymer-based beads having nano-particles of iron oxide coated thereon. The advantage of using a series of two or more phosphate removal filters is that the process can deliver a final effluent containing specific pre-determined levels of phosphate that may be as low as 0.01 mg/L of effluent, but will in all cases be below 1 mg/L.

  • Publication number: 20080272064
Abstract: A rainwater treatment assembly (1) comprising a rainwater storage tank (2) and a treatment tank (3). Rainwater is delivered from the storage tank (3) where ozone is injected into it at regular time intervals. The ozone kills bacteria and oxidises transition metals.
