Patent number: 10775978Abstract: A remote controllable monitoring system includes a movable sensor to monitor characteristic(s) of electrical components of equipment housed at different locations inside of an electrical enclosure. The movable sensor is movably mounted inside of the electrical enclosure. The monitoring system can also control the power supplied to the electrical components (e.g., turn power ON or OFF). A remote device interacts with the monitoring system to provide a user with remote control over the functions of the monitoring system. The remote device can include an interactive user interface with a virtual map of the electrical components. Accordingly, the user can monitor electrical components and turn OFF power to the electrical components if a problem or perspective problem is detected, via the interactive user interface of the remote device without opening or being near the electrical enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2014Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC USA, INC.Inventors: Carlos Eutimio Curiel Montoya, Pablo Alejandro del Angel Marrufo, Adrian Igor de Leon Sanchez, Marcela Veronica Arizpe Rodriguez, Jeffrey Owen Sharp

Patent number: 10431994Abstract: A self-contained EVCS accessory is electrically engaged to an electric vehicle charging stations to derive one or more operational parameters during the electric vehicle charging process. The self-contained EVCS accessory includes a display unit that can display detailed information to the users regarding the charging process. The EVCS accessory uses its own built-in display unit and power supply to display the detailed information and requires no modification to the charging station. The detailed information, which may include the charging level, charging status, elapsed time, power transferred, cost of power, and the like, may be derived directly by the EVCS accessory or it may be obtained by the accessory from a predefined source of such information. Such an arrangement provides users with much more meaningful information about the charging process compared to the LEDs or light indicators of existing charging stations.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2013Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: Schneider Electric USA, Inc.Inventors: Karla Morena Guajardo Gonzalez, Gabriela Isabel Rubio Barraza, Marcela Veronica Arizpe Rodriguez, Jose Filiberto Escamilla Canedo, Pablo Alejandro Del Angel Marrufo

Patent number: 9277191Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for monitoring an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) are disclosed. A security system is disclosed for monitoring an EVCS having an electrical connector for electrically coupling to an electric vehicle. The security system includes a camera for recording images of a surrounding area of the EVCS. A sensor detects objects near the EVCS and/or detects removal of the electrical connector from the EVCS. A controller, which is operatively coupled to the camera and the sensor, is configured to: receive sensor signals output from the sensor; responsive to the sensor signals indicating that an object is near the EVCS or the electrical connector is removed from the EVCS: direct the camera to record images of the surrounding area of the EVCS; output to a user the images of the surrounding area of the EVCS; and, receive user command signals to control the EVCS and/or the security system.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2012Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC USA, INC.Inventors: Marcela Verónica Arizpe Rodríguez, Jose Filiberto Escamilla Cañedo, Karla Morena Guajardo Gonzalez, Pablo Alejandro del Angel Marrufo, Vladimir Cano Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez Najera

Patent number: 9216657Abstract: An EVCS equipped with an accelerometer to detect seismic events. Upon sensing a catastrophic environmental event, the EVCS is automatically disconnected from the main utility power source. A controller powered by a backup or alternate power source inside the EVCS monitors the seismic activity, and upon sensing the seismic event is over, the EVCS automatically performs a startup check. If utility power is present and the self-check passes, the EVCS resets and provides power from the main utility to the charging connector. If the EVCS is operable but utility power is unavailable, the EVCS switches to a generator or a UPS. The EVCS can provide multiple power outlets, including USB outlets, and emergency lighting. The EVCS can also be retrofitted or constructed with a communications interface for communicating status and operational information following a seismic event.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2012Date of Patent: December 22, 2015Assignee: SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC USA, INC.Inventors: Karla Morena Guajardo Gonzalez, Marcela Verónica Arizpe Rodriguez, Pablo Alejandro del Angel Marrufo, Jose Filiberto Escamilla Cañedo, Vladimir Cano Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez Najera
