Patent number: 11784793Abstract: An encryption box device has a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. A first clipboard runs on the processor and downloads a plaintext stream. An encryption engine runs on the processor and receives the plaintext stream and encrypts the plaintext stream to produce an encrypted stream. A digitizer runs on the processor and digitizes the encrypted stream to produce a digitized encrypted stream. A second clipboard runs on the processor and uploads the digitized encrypted stream. The encryption engine may also decrypt the encrypted stream to produce the plaintext stream and upload the plaintext stream to the first clipboard.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2016Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: PERMANENT PRIVACY LTD.Inventor: Pak Kay Yuen

Patent number: 9642168Abstract: An indirect communication system and a method of indirect communication include a mobile phone as either a calling device or receiving device. The mobile phone calls another device to set up a prospective communication, and then uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to communicate with the other device over the Internet. The receiving device receives a generated signal notifying the receiving device of a proposed communication with the calling device. A server sets up a meeting point channel after the calling device has connected to the server. The server receives outgoing VoIP packets from the calling device and redirects the outgoing VoIP packets to the receiving device.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: WIRELESS WONDERS LTD.Inventors: Pak Kay Yuen, Johan Eliasch

Patent number: 8595508Abstract: A system, device and method for encrypting plaintext information securely. The system includes a transmitting agent to generate and synchronize a first cipher stream using the plaintext information and a first key, to generate and synchronize a second cipher stream using a second key and a randomizing function to randomize and synchronize a controllable plaintext stream to form a second synchronized cipher stream, and to operate on the plurality of first and second cipher streams using an exclusive disjunction operator to obtain a ciphertext stream; and a receiving agent to decrypt the ciphertext stream.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2010Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Inventor: Pak Kay Yuen

Patent number: 5604824Abstract: An apparatus and a corresponding method for performing compression and reconstruction of documents are disclosed. Compression of the document is performed by applying a scaling function and a wavelet function first in one direction (e.g., rows) and then in another direction (e.g., columns) to digital data representing the document. The scaling and wavelet functions correspond to spline and wavelet functions that are compactly supported over a convolution interval, and which can also be implemented by way of integer operations. Byte-packing may also be applied to the image data, without regard to pixel boundaries, allowing not only binary (two-color) documents to be compressed but also enabling the compression of more complex color documents. The spline-wavelet compression and reconstruction may be performed according to alternative methods, including dual-base wavelets, interpolatory wavelets, and wavelet packets.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: February 18, 1997Assignee: Houston Advanced Research CenterInventors: Charles K. Chui, Pak-Kay Yuen

Patent number: 5600373Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing video image compression and decompression are disclosed. The video image compression is performed using boundary-spline-wavelet decomposition, in which the wavelets applied to sample locations at the boundaries of image intervals are different from those applied to sample locations within the intervals. As a result, boundary effect artifacts that arise from the use of wavelets requiring support outside of the interval are avoided. The decomposition is performed first for horizontal rows of the image data, and then in a vertical direction upon the results of the first decomposition. Quantization serves to locally round off the higher frequency components of the decomposition, and the decomposition is repeated until the desired compression ratio is obtained. Lossless compression may then be applied to the decomposed image data, and the compressed image is transmitted or stored, depending upon the application.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1996Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Assignee: Houston Advanced Research CenterInventors: Charles K.
