Patent number: 9921790Abstract: A combination of physical and logical components of an apparatus to establish a persistent connection over a network with a source that is provided with or part of a job service. The components extract a job instruction embodied in a first communication that is received from the source over the persistent connection, without the apparatus having provided a request for the first communication. Based on the job instruction, the components send a request to the job service for job data when the job service is able to process job data for a corresponding job, without the apparatus polling the job service or waiting for the job service to receive the corresponding job.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2015Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Pankaj Anand, Laurent Pizot, Pankaj Sharma, Jacob Refstrup

Publication number: 20120078906Abstract: A robust knowledge-based management and sharing system organized by context for expertise-based or context-based searching and retrieval of relevant information is disclosed. The various embodiments and techniques described herein are used to organize a user's data and communications around the user's expertise or one or more contexts the user is associated with such as the user's projects, products, and customers. The organization of user data is derived from the user's competencies and interactions with others and is used to build and index user profiles in a manner that facilitates retrieval in search results for relevant search criteria. A linguistic processing pipeline is used to parse and index the user's data to generate the complete and partial profiles organized by context. Complete and partial profiles are generated, indexed, ranked, and stored by the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2011Publication date: March 29, 2012Inventors: Pankaj Anand, Maxim Lukichev, Puneet Trehan, Sumit Vij, Nitin Arora

Publication number: 20100293141Abstract: The present invention provides a method that uses differential backup which is a key feature when uploading file for back up data from a client terminal to a server terminal. At the time of backup, only the changes from the client terminal side are sent back to the server terminal which saves the bandwidth and makes the process fast. While uploading, data is sent in the form of chunks of fixed size. In case any of the chunks could not be delivered on the server terminal, the same chunk is retransmitted from the client terminal.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2007Publication date: November 18, 2010Inventors: Pankaj Anand, Nitin Arora, Puneet Trehan, Rakesh Sharrma, Aniruddha Chaudhuri, Pankaj Sharma

Publication number: 20100179944Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for retrieving and restoring data which is available on a local archival media but lost or not available at a computer terminal connectable to the said local archival media. A list of data available on a particular archival media and a list of data available at the computer terminal are compared and sorted appropriately to generate a list of lost data which are to be retrieved and restored from the local archival media. Once the list of lost data is generated, the list is checked to render the path and feasibility of retrieving and restoring the files. Finally, the files are retrieved by selecting path and location in computer terminal.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2007Publication date: July 15, 2010Inventors: Pankaj Anand, Nitin Arora, Puneet Trehan, Rakesh Sharrma, Aniruddha Chaudhuri, Pankaj Sharma

Publication number: 20080256147Abstract: The present invention presents a method and a system of indexing, storing and retrieving data to and from multiple, remote and connected data sources over internet or intranet. Files are shredded into fixed number of strips using a defined pattern (shredding algorithm) and distributed randomly amongst the storage data sources (storage nodes). A unique index is maintained for each file and its strips along with corresponding storage nodes in a central file-storage database. On demand to retrieve a file, file-storage database is looked up for all relevant strips and storage nodes containing them. These file strips are then collected from all storage nodes and dressed back according to a defined anti-pattern (dressing algorithm) to the pattern used for shredding them. Failover control for storage nodes can be achieved by replicating each strip for a fixed number of storage nodes (replication factor).Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2006Publication date: October 16, 2008Applicant: Medical Research CouncilInventors: Pankaj Anand, Nitin Arora, Puneet Trehan, Rakesh Sharrma, Aniruddha Chaudhuri
