Abstract: A cable connector that includes a housing that receives a contact member and has opposite first and second ends, an inner sleeve having an insert section extending into the second end of the housing and a cable termination section for receiving a cable and that includes a locking portion, a backshell having a first end that couples to the second end of the housing and an opposite second end that surrounds the sleeve's cable termination section, and a locking member positioned between the sleeve's cable termination section and the second end of the backshell. The locking member has a locking element for cooperating with the sleeve's locking portion. The backshell is rotatable with respect to the housing in a tightening direction, and the locking element engages the locking portion of the inner sleeve such that rotation of the backshell in a loosening direction opposite the tightening direction is prevented.

Abstract: A silent plug includes a switch adapted to be automatically opened when the connector is inserted into the jack and closed when the connector is not inserted into the jack to eliminate electronically generated noise that would otherwise occur when the plug is inserted. The switch has a sliding ring contact for providing the electrical connection between the tip contact and the ground sleeve and providing 360° contact with the ground sleeve via a bridging contact. A spring applies a force in the mating direction to urge the sliding ring contact into the closed position. An actuator facing the jack contacts the front face of the jack when the connector is inserted into the jack in order to urge the sliding ring contact in a direction opposite to the mating direction and against the force applied by the spring.

Abstract: An insert assembly for a hybrid marine connector including a front disk, a rear disk abutting the front insulator disk, a hole extending through the front and rear insulator disks, the hole having a shoulder formed in each of the disks, a collet clip positioned between the shoulders in the hole for releasably retaining a contact in the hole, and a bolt for axially compressing the front disk into abutment with the rear disk.
